The controllers don't. The system itself has the touch-sensitive buttons for the power/ eject buttons similar to the PS3. As in no moving parts.

Software can get a firmware update? Firmware is hardware specific, no?

Ok that was a mistake on my part. So, it's not the firmware. However, I installed Halo games and had no problem. [/QUOTE You CAN install Halo3 to the Hard Drive. However, Bungie has said that this will cause maps to load slower thus slowing down the overall matchmaking process on XboxLive.
