1) Yes weather plays a big part.. I cant play mine if its higer then 35 degrees outside other wise it goes into high heat mode and it sounds like a jumbo running down a runway.

2) Yes games also play a big part. Games that run directly off the disk like uncharted seem to make mine struggle more.

3) if it freezes or stays in fan mode 4 i would get sony to look at it. You could try one of those USB fans, I have one. I hardley every use it. I have been told they work but I have also been told they put more strain on your PS as its using the USB ports to power the fan. So I dont know.
