This is just a continuation of part 2 to be honest but I want to carry on the points I was making.
Dark Souls
this game is self-proclaimed as one of the hardest games ever made. I can only agree with the statement. I have never met a game that only punishes you for getting better; you are always fighting an uphill struggle with this game as it never eases on you. The learning curve of this game is not too bad but some fiddly controls and the lack of a pause option has gotten on my nerves a few times. The game does not have a great deal of explanation in the opening cut scene; it has some excellent visuals and a grand sounding story but I was left a bit confused about the whole goings on and not sure what any of it had to do with my character and what was going on.
Though I have done nothing but pick faults so far I would like to say I also love this game. The concept it delivers keeps you on your toes and makes sure you can?t relax. When you do rest at a camp fire the game then resets all the enemies you killed and re-spawns all hostiles. This is also an incentive to play areas again and again to make your character stronger; also exploring new areas little by little allows you to enjoy the games simple you haunting good sound track. The lack of NPC?s at the beginning of the game make you feel alone and distant from everything.
I have not played a lot of this game though what I have played so far I do love and I can only recommend it to people who will not get annoyed at replaying the same areas again and again. You need patience and have a love of games that involve grinding. I have found this game a challenge yet also fun in short bursts if you want to just kill things in an area and then rest at a campfire and then go kill the same circle of enemies and then save it. Though the game is probably not for new gamers I would recommend it to people who have a passion for insanely and stupidly difficult games or just people who want a challenge.
Mass Effect 3
This game was so hyped and so anticipated that it was always going to be hard to try and please every single person who was looking forward to this game. Though after the game had been released and people rushed through to find the end outcome it cause nothing but controversy. Never has a game created so much discussion and heated debates that have been widely discussed and ridiculed.
I am going to say that personally I enjoyed the ending to this game and don?t know why people moaned so much; though in my own personal opinion I enjoy a more artistic view on games. I just like to be allowed entry into someone else?s mind. Though Mass Effect 3 in general it was pretty underwhelming, it had some amazing set pieces and some cut scenes were mind blowing but the game in general did not deliver. I felt the story telling was a little weak and the game was relying more on combat to progress the story forward. I am a huge fan of this series of games and I loved the story telling and just felt the third one was not on par with the previous 2.
The combat was tweaked and sharpened for the latest outing and it made for a good game but I just did not have the same interactions with the character as I did in Mass Effect 2. Maybe the developers wanted you to feel this way due to the plot of the game.
Don?t get me wrong when the game goes hunting for an emotional response from the player it managed to grab me a few times and the game made me feel things that I did not expect but I feel they focused more on this that the overall narrative of the game.
Thanks for reading this (if anyone has).
