I see no reason why independently-developed games should "go out of style". The Indie space has always been the place that jaded gamers go to renew their hope in the video game world. As long as there is a bank-rolled multinational developer at one end of the spectrum, there will always be the penniless rogue programmer at the other end, slaving day and night to create something really special. And Minecraft is just one of many possibilities! As programming and computer science become more and more central to everyday life, so must their impact on the realm of entertainment media. The future is bright, folks.
