The FEAR series to me is one of the best FPS titles available. Its combination of Horror and Action help keep the game interesting right to the end.
The slow motion, while not new to games anymore really isn't done any better than inthese games. Nothing looks more satifying then body parts and blood flying through the air after a well placed grenade or a pointblank shotgun blast. Aslo the intensity of battles if you don't use the slow mo is amazing where unlike other first person shooters you fire only a few shots to kill, you almost find it nessasary to unleash half a clip. The fast pace andmore realistic weapon firing rate means youempty the clip in mear seconds. It also has good bullet impact andsounds causing dust &debris tofly every where (the 1st did this the best).
One good sell point is that unlike other FPS FEAR focusus more on close quarter encounters. Moving from building to building, room to room making every battle short and intense and if you know good tactics, makequick decisionandare accurate you can make the enemy seem like nothing on any difficulty.
The Horror is great the first time playing the games especially if you play at night by yourself (little girl covered in blood watching your everymove can be daunting). It has plenty of stuff that jump out but don't cause damage justthereto keep you on your toes but if you show NO FEAR then you will become FEAR and nothing can stop you.
I recommend this series to any Fan of FPS or Horror Titles. Not for people with weak stomachs for violence cause it has plenty of blood and gore.
But honestly there is a big difference between video game gore and real life. In the game its awesome to run through explodingblood guts. But I wouldn't really want to do it in real life cause it would take for ever to clean up and you could catch aplethora of blood borndiseases. Plus the life less expressions on peoples faces is not something you want to remember.
