The Ever Constant Pricing
by Chaosleader0 on Comments
Recently, Something amazing happened up here in Canada. Our dollar is finally worth more than our neighbor's down below. And while most politicians constantly warn us againts the problems this might create on the long run, the average Canadian will show pride knowing that we finally bested The U.S of A. But then, heres a shocker, if our money is better, why are we paying more ?
I recently went down to Chapters to pick up a warhammer novel. I quickly read the summary and then i see it. 7,99$ U.S and 9,99 Cnd. This leaves me perplexed since logically, we should be paying the same thing or less. So i buy the novel anyway, but while making my way towards the cashier, i see the 300 graphic novel. Having seen the great movie, I go for a quick look. Now, being a man of literature, I have a hard time making anything of the novel. And just to see if the pricing trend continues, I look at the price. 25$ U.S. and ... 40$ Cnd. What the hell? At what time was our money ever worth 60 cents American other than after 9/11, where our dollar hit a record low of 62 cents for one dollar. But even during those terrible times, the prices remained unchanged.
So why is it then that when our dollars match, we still pay more. While changing the pricing of items is a lengthy process, one must still wonder, why does such a thing take so long to occur. Only time will tell
