It's a good marketing move by Nintendo... not that they really NEED anymore profit boosting on top of virtually printing money. I just don't understand why they don't try a redesign of traditional controllers to include the new gyroscopes and ship new systems with them....
ATI's hardware does look compelling, with its hardware tessellation unit and full HD Video support, but what with my bad experiences with the Catalyst drivers... I can just imagine how much of a problem I would get with the "edge detect" filter. Some really colorful character is going to have lines visibly drawn through him because the card will think the color changes are edges... though they will be "high-quality" lines. ATI's always been a pain in my neck, so I think for now I'll stick to Nvidia. Besides, Nvidia is dominating the portable gaming world anyways.
If anyone remembers the renders of Flight Simulator between DX9 and DX10... it would be easy to forgive these first few games that were programmed with DX9 with that kind of future in store...
Jeez ... all Microsoft needs to do is release an update that supports ReadyBoost for more than one drive... say... three or something. You should see results shoot up. With "dual/ quad/ whatever eight would be" core processors getting to be popular, I think systems could handle it. Accessing three 256mb Flash drives at once would kill accessing one 1gb one... and if you could use hardrive space on networked computers too! The possibilities are limitless!
