Im sure you and your friends have money to throw around. (which is great!) But PC gaming is considerably more expensive and most of my friends probably don't have the money. Another thing is a good portion of my friends aren't as technically inclined as I am and are contempt with theyre console. I think PC gaming is best for me but HOW DO I GET BETTER? lol im tired of getting analy raped online in FPS'S!

My laptop is Asus g73-jh. The $1250 one from best buy not the $1600 one.

Well, question seems to be "Should I get for Xbox or PC?". Keep in mind you are on the PC board but from someone who was somewhat in your shoes before, there is NO reason to get it on Xbox opposed to PC. PC beats the console counterpart in every single way involving the mods, community, control system, and graphics (pretty much what you already stated).

Now, one thing you had me REALLY worried about in your post is when you said "I got a gaming laptop". That worries me because desktops are far superior to laptops in terms of gaming...almost as bad as the PC vrs console comparison. Just hope you really do have a beast on your hands if it was made for gaming, but if you do you could have had a desktop that is better for half the price.

Yea, in the end I figured the desktop was better but This has intel i7 and ati radeon 5870 along with a thumpin' sound card and a nice 17" screen with 1600x900 resolution (fairly good for the screen size). My laptop is up to snuff for this game I play Medal of Honor with full graphics settings up all the way no lag.

Seems a bit biased esspecially from the PC forums. Anyone in a situation akin to mine?

the PC is in fact, better in most areas. The only thing that suck is bad ports of console games. Other than that, better graphics, better online, better controls = better platform. also, Black Ops is such a rip-off. Have fun with your $60 mod of MW2.

No no no...MW2 was bad. Black ops fixed a few things and albeit added some stupid ones but the online overall looks better and the zombies is my main reason for buying it. (No zombies in MW2) P.S.- Infinity Ward sucks now. Treyarch was always good.

But getting back to the main question. Friends+terrible community VS. No friends (I guess I can make new ones over the interwebz) + good community + Mods?

[QUOTE="AlphaJC"]there wont be mods for CO black ops since Activision is preventing it.Phoenix534

Actually, it will have mod support. They announced that in August.

He's right! I did look it up. But what about map pack costs? And will mods be allowed if purchased from steam?

OK, so here's the story: For about 2 years now I've owned by Xbox360 and of course enjoy it as a gaming platform and previous to that I owned a PS2 and have always been a console gamer. However, in the past few months starting with my subscription to World of Warcraft and the purchasing of a mid-to high-end gaming laptop I have been finding that PC gaming can be more entertaining (with mods, cheap and endless games and digital downloads.) The community is also better and a lot more mature than the 8 year olds on Xbox live, and even though I will be leaving my real life friends who are all console gamers to go to PC I think ill be fine. I decided to pre-order Medal of Honor (2010) off of steam. I loved using the good ol' keyboard and mouse to blow the heads off of taliban, but there was a drawback. When I went to go play online I continuously got my ass handed to me by hardened veterans of both the franchise and the PC and faced the cruel reality that the transitioning from console to PC was extremely difficult. I had a fun time on the single player and think I can get better over time. The game I want now is Call of Duty: Black Ops. I mainly want it for the new zombies that will be featured on it (cause I was addicted to nazi zombies.). In this mode I will be playing together with people instead of against them so in that game mode I should have no problems adapting. I am also excited for what mods may come with the new modding tools black ops will have. Mods= 5x the amount of available zombie maps to play on. If anyone knows what the map packs are going to cost for black ops when they come out id be happy to know as I don't wanna pay too much for 4 maps. Also, is there any tips from anyone who's had the same problems adapting to PC gaming and has survived?
