Miss the Cube!

This is a bit of moaning, but I have to get it out.

I have recently moved to Australia with my wife - she will be doing her law degree here. We have bought a PS2 so we can watch movies and play games (In Canada, I had a Gamecube). I bought a PS2 thinking, "this is great. Now I will be able to play all the great games I missed from owning a cube."

Another reason why I bought a PS2 was so to have a bit of selection. Gamecube isn't very popular here. If you think selection is bad in Canada, don't come to Oz. EB games, or any departments stores for that matter, don't carry more than a dozen to twenty, if your lucky, Gamecube games. There are tonnes of PS2 and Xbox games; they usually have their own wall.

And what's more, video games are really expensive here - most new releases come out at around 90-100 dollars (au), which is around 80 to 90 canadian. RE4 for gamecube is $110(au), around 100 canadian; for PS2 it's $89. As you can see, the PS2 was the way to go.

Anyway, I have played God of War, GTA:San Andreas, Tekken, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo, and Psychonauts, which are all great games. And I had lots of fun playing them. Still, I miss my Cube.

Maybe it's one of those things where you "want what you can't have." But I wish I had the Cube here with me. I want to try Odama, the new Super Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros Melee, and, most of all, the new Zelda game. But, I will have to wait until I go home, in three years.

By then, the WII will be out and most of the gamecube games will be pushed off the shelf. Or maybe I should make a concerted effort to bring the cube over? Bah! I can't, it just means more stuff to take home later. At least, when i do get home, and buy a WII, all my old cube games will be playable. At least I have that going for me.
