OK, haven't really been updating lately so I'm going to tell you guys what's been spinning in my game systems for the last couple of weeks. Of course the main thief of spare timesince it's release is Halo 3, but most of youSHOULD know all about that by now, but I have been playing loads of other things in between all the Halo.
In fact I've been playing so many games that I have raised my gamerscore by about 5 000 points in aboutone months time. About half an hour ago I passed the 25 000- barrier which means that if everything goes as planned I will be able to hit 30K before Christmas. I've saved up some easy points by only playing some of my weaker titles on my spare profile, for example I have only played around with Open Season on my other account and then we have games like Hitman and Phantasy Star which remain unopened. So I have places to take score from if needed, but I don't see the need or point since playing the game and enjoying it for what it is is still the most important aspect of my philosophy.
However some games don't really have much joy to bring to the table, for example I finally finished Superman Returns and even though hearing the sound of Achievements being unlocked makes me rather pleased, I still felt like I had just waisted hours of my life that I would never get back. The sad thing is that the most fun I had with the game was yelling at the screen whenever the Man of Steel didn't do what I wanted him to do. I would yell out things like "Yeah, get stuck in that tree! It's not like you're strong enough to get out of it!" and "oooh half of Metropolis got destroyed? I'm just going to stop trying and let those monsters destroy and kill the rest since I already let them take the first half!". Plain stupid frankly, and I remember during one cutscene I switched to TV and "Smallville" was on, but then I realized that I had to keep on playing the game rather than watch Clark Kent on TV do his thing. The first words that left my mouth once started the mission and got hit by a green beam of light was: "Why can't you be more like Clark Kent?!" which doen't make sense yet surpringly does if you watch Smallville as much as I do.
I've also got some new games that have helped my score reach new hights. Since Halo 3 I have picked up the following games:
CSI: Hard Evidence (360) - Didn't get a good score but I still felt intrigued enough to pick it up, the review said that it was practically the same thing as all the previous CSI-gam,es but since I hadn't played any of them before that didn't stop me. The game only has five achievements which I must admit kind of made me buy the game, but I also have to say with all honesty that I probably would have picked it up easy gamerscore or onot, but I probably wouldnät have bought it for the price I did. Overall I'm rather pleased with the purchase, it's like a crappier version of Phoenix Wright with more blood and sperm...
Bullet Witch (360) - Wat can I say, I had just gotten my salary, I wanted a cheap game and I have kind of had my eye on Bullet Witch ever since the game was released. I took a leap and was pleasently surprised to find a rather fun and simple action game. All you do is shoot stuff and jump around a bit and that is exactly what I wanted from it. The story is surpringly good and if they made a low budget Bullet Witch- movie I would honestly watch it, since this kind of reminds me of Gears of War but with a little more stuff going on that they actually let you know about. There's only one thing that I can realy say against this mediocre but fun game, the enemy-design sucks more than a vacuum cleaner. Slightly distorted humans as the main enemy, kind of looks like everyone of them is a victim of extreme famine, and the upgraded leaders are basically giant floating brains with a normal sized human body attached to them, bad, bad, BAD!
Sonic Rush (DS) - Sonic doing his thing in 2D, don't have a whiole lot to say when I thought the game was actually going to be good and it turned out I was right. The flaws that applied to all the other Sonic games in 2D apply here as well. The only thing I have to say is this:for some dumb reason it's more fun to play as Blaze the Cat that it is playing as Sonic! Why did they make Sonic so much weaker than that complaining wannabe-badass cat?!
TMNT (GBA) - OMG, they made Turtles good again! Unlike the stationary consoles and the PSP and DS versione all you do here is beat the crap out of punks by punching, kicking and smacking them straight. You can pick up evreything that the enemies can wield and you can even pick up the enemies themselves and throw them at each other! You can also throw stuff in the environments and walk up and down the street like in the arcade game! Basically this is the TMNT game you want to play!
NBA Street: Homecourt (360) - After buying both NBA 2K6 and 2K7 I realized that Basketball- games are as fun as I remember them, but I wanted something a little more over the top, this game basically gave me this, all you do is trick around and do insane things that would probably kill you in real lif. Pure simple fun most of the time. I haven't played that much of it so I'll give you a real impression later.
The Orange Box (360) - It's Half- Life2, and Episode 1, and Episode 2, and Team Fortress 2, AND Portal! Ialso think that Metal Gear Solid 4 (and 5 even!) are hidden somewhere in on the disc! Need I really say more, I pretty much thik that Jeff "the man" Gerstmann pretty much said it all in his review.
Well that's it until tomorrow when I'll be picking up my pre-ordered copies of Eternal Sonata, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. I better go play some more games, I've made it a policy to do my best to beat the games I buy so that they can take an honorable place on my shelf of gaming goodness. Talk to you guys later, and leave a message with or without a question about anything you want. I'll try to answer game questions and other questions as good as possible!
