Why don't people remake all games that were considered great every generation since every new generation of videogame systems will have better/different technology and so that newer gamers have a chance to experience the greatness of those games?... then maybe we could use decimals like computer software updates (eg, super mario bros 1.x, final fantasy 7.x, etc.) since that's what ... But, maybe that's taking it too far... maybe one remake is okay?... Well, I'm not sure if there's a line to be drawn here... Some people really miss "the good ol' days" (when games were great) and think that gamers today miss out on those great things of the past... (has anyone seen that penn & teller BS episode about people getting carried away with nostalgia?) So I don't know what to say about remakes... Maybe rereleases for those that want to relive their "good ol' days" is good enough. After all, a great game is already great to those who've played it. But, is that game only great for its time (and those who were gamers of its generation) or is it still great to gamers of a later generation? the issue of remakes is something worth discussing...
probably Parappa... But also Rhythm Tengoku, which isn't a series yet since only one game's been released and only in japan, but there's a sort of sequel coming for the Wii
I'd love a new weapons based action/fighting game, whether its star wars, a new IP, old IP, or some hack 'n slash or boxing game... There is still the lingering idea of some kind of marionette game... -maybe the use of two wiimotes for some kind of sword and sheild combo or dual weapon combo... -maybe a more realistic tennis game
Okay, maybe I didn't spell it out, but I was making an analogy using the logic that one of the posters in this topic used... I wasn't seriously posting my opinion. I agree that the other option wasn't taken away from me. Okay, so in terms of the topic at hand- Just because the same game, be it TP or Okami, is available with a different control scheme on another system, it doesn't mean that the games themselves are ruined. How about a skeleton argument structure that you can plug stuff into? !. Some thing X comes in at least two options- a & b. 2. I don't like one of the options. Therefore, 3. X is ruined. Now, that's not my argument that I laid out the form for, but just the way that I see one of the previous posters arguing, that user's logic. And for him in one example, X= TP, a= GC cs (cs= control scheme), b= Wii cs In his other example, X= Okami, a= PS2 cs, b= Wii cs But, if a game has no options, it seems that control scheme is part of the game. For example, the original Resident Evil control scheme. Many people hated it and since you couldn't play it any other way, it could be said that the control scheme took away from one's enjoyment of the game, ie, ruined it... Hopefully this clarifies my earlier post...
