Email Response to XBOX about the recent changes and the Xbox live price increase

Howdy,

I recently go an email from XBOX titled this: "Your Xbox LIVE Gold Membershipgets even better" I was thoroughly insulted.

I decided to reply to it and speak my mind a bit. I posted exactly what I wrote to them below. I'm sure many agree with me. I'm also sure some won't.

Anyhow I figured I'd share it:

Dear Microsoft Xbox live people,

I do not want or need any of that. Why am I being forced to pay for it?
I can Video Chat on my Gmail account for free, I do not follow sports closely enough to care about the ESPN application, and even if I did I still would not want or need it. I do not have a Face book or a Twitter account and even if I did, I would not care. Netflix can be watched for free on other devices. Zune is annoying and is pretty much obsolete if you have netflix, plus it takes forever to load.

As a longtime defender and customer of Xbox and Xbox live why do I not have the simple option of simply not paying for all this excess stuff? Most of this stuff is free and is more convenient to use outside of Live. I will not ever use any of it on live.

I think the addition of a bronze account is in order. An account that replaces the silver account. The new silver account should be an account without all the extra stuff( ESPN, Facespace, etc). The way Live was before all these changes. An account to play games and that is it.
The gold account should be where all these excess additions should be. An account that costs a little extra, but has more perks in it if you want it.
Or add each application separately as a yearly charge that way you can really pick and choose...

Cause the thing is I do not want or care about any of that extra stuff. I locked my Gold account in for another year, but unless something gets added that absolutely blows my mind, I promise you I will not be renewing it again. This is coming from an avid gamer and long time supporter of Xbox. A person who bought the Xbox when it came out, the 360, the Elite when it came out, and most recently the HALO edition 360 when it came out. I am not just some person who owns all systems and is looking for an excuse to complain. I am a long time defender of this system, and only complain in truly dark times, when situations get grim, when the situation is dire.

Sure I may be being cheap, but I have every right to be, I may be able to afford it, but why? Why pay extra for all these tiresome additions that mean nothing to me as a gamer? It is not fair. I do not go to the grocery store grab a gallon of delicious whole milk, and then on my way out get handed a basket full of semi interesting products that I do not want or need and then get told I have to buy them all, or no Milk. No, I will just go to a different store, one that does not force me to pay for products I do not want. I will get my Whole milk elsewhere. It may not be the brand I am used to, but it will still satisfy my dairy needs.

I liked the blades system better and do not see the need to change it so often other than to justify a price hike.

I'm sure this is falling on deaf ears, but thank you anyway for your time. I'll make sure my last year with you is a good one. It has been a blast.
