That's a pretty bad porygon z...
Because: it's bad to run modest unless it's subsalac or choice...
Why sub?? What does it achieve??
Alakazam has fallen considerably since the gen shift because it lost a lot of coverage with the physical/special split (it now has to rely on focus blast). The only good thing it could do is trick a choice item away but now even that is no longer a surprise...
Gengar is better because it has almost perfect coverage with shadow ball and hp fighting, it's ghost type AND it learns trick and explosion... all these these things make it better than Alakazam...

The reason you can't go there is because I think, the game thinks you havn't gone ther yet... Let me explain, the story goes, you go to the ruins of delgantua, and illua warps you to zellea right?? (then there's that fight with the big weird thing...) So because you saved the game BEFORE the forbidden land opened, you havn't been there yet...

@Doobalol
NP Azelf does work... but only on the switch of course...

BTW... the original message actually specifies a np set...

Scizor should ALWAYS either be ON your team or have a counter on your team... see the thing is, in competitive pokemon, there are always staples... and there always will be... and when one pokemon become so OVERused and OPed that it's almost on EVERY team, its counter will also overun the metagame. And this is called a monopolized metagame. And when something like this happens, the overused pokemon will be moved up a tier... Garchomp....

That's why teams without counters to common threats will fail... simple...

[QUOTE="Colonnello"]

focus band? try sash instead...Someone would give eq to electivire for coverage and also eq is the most used move around... Magmortar is not a lead because there are things called suicide leads and things called weather leads and things called anti leads.... Aerodactyl is a popular lead... sr on the first turn then eq.... OR Azelf: sr on the first turn, then BOOM...OR metagross: sr on the first turn, then eq... the list goes on... (magmortar is just too slow to do much...) Nobody uses Slaking that way anymore... now it is a VERY powerful revenge killer.... (YOu DONT lead with slaking...) ANyway, who switches in a rhyperior on a solarbeam???

Azelf is my favorite sp sweeper

gamedude234

OMG... what i said was just an example.

The thing is, if you plan on giving bad examples, don't give any at all... Anyway, it's pretty obvious you're covering up a slip... Magmortar lead?? WOW... but at least you meant well...

While using staples may sound unoriginal but they're staples because they work; it's a waste of time trying to put together an unique team just for originality... unless you're REALLY good, it won't work... Anyway, originality can still be achieved through move sets... So there's absolutely no point trying to fit a pokemon in a role where a better one would work much better (unless it's for personal reasons of course...).

Now here's a good np azelf set:
Expert Belt (life orb is sometimes a better choice though...)
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Speed
Timid
Nasty Plot
Flamethrower- for steels... (scizor etc)
Psychic- STAB
HP Fighting (grass knot also works...)- HP takes care of dark types(tyranitar) while grass knot kills bulky waters and ground...

PoryZ
Life orb (better than silk scarf imo)
Timid
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Speed
Nasty Plot
Tri-Attack-STAB
Dark Pulse- Ghosts... (not so common now though... bar rotom)
HP Fighting- Rocks/steels
You could replace dark pulse and hp with ice beam and thunderbolt but then there's rotom...

This is just an example though....

109 spc attack isn't that high.... it's just above average... On the other hand, an 84 attack boosted with bellydrum has much more destructive power than 109 spc attack... BTW, ev training in the highest stats of individual pokemon might be a good idea for some simple sweeper sets but it's still a terrible way to train... (most walls with no hp investments fail... (unless it's something like swalot with painsplit)

@Furretfan450
putting evs in stats like that is really bad!!! TAke your max def drapion for example, without any hp investments, it'll probably die to a spc attack... Dusknoir has terrible hp and to combat this problem, people put painsplit on it, but you don't run hp AND don't use painsplit...

@Gamesdude
I gave the resttalk set because it's Poliwrath's only healing move... (aside from absorbing water moves and leftovers) YOur concern with rest is common but the thing is, there's 1/3 chance of it using rest again but with enough defensive investments, you should be able to survive most moves... Charizard should bellydrum because with salac berry, you outrun most things and you'll then ohko them with your moves... The hp problem is fixed by either bding on the switch or switching into something that won't like charizard... Sunny Day solar beam ususally fails because on the first turn you Sunny day, they switch or hit you with super effctive move (or just a strong neutral one), you lose tons of hp (or die)... Next turn, you either solarbeam/ flamethrower/ whtever OR they move faster than you and kill you.... Furthermore, running sunnyday on on team where it only REALLY benefits 1 person is a bit of a waste...

The speed problem can be KINDA remedied by scarfing flygon...

Dusknoir: If you're not going to run any hp evs, use pain split. Charizard: Mild?? Why? ALso it has terrible moves, the only reason people still use charizard is because of Belly Drum and I hardly ever see anyone use that. Becuase your Charizard will lose 50% hp switching in to sr. Why air cutter?? WHy Scary face??? Poliwrath: Walls, unless in very special cases, do not run max sp defense and defense... Dive? Really?? Here's a defensive poliwrath set: Evs:252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def Item: Lefties Nature: Impish Ice Punch REst Sleep Talk Brick Break Drapion: I have absolutely no idea what your Drapion is supposed to be.... Magnezone: Get rid of supersonic and mirror shot... There is absolutely no need to run max def... Flygon: Run Jolly. Don't use sandstorm.... ever....

The thing about your team is that... it has TERRIBLE POKEMON!!! Torterra is only EVER useful in NU and same for luxray... In fact the only pokemon that won't get completely owned is Straraptor.. Put some evs in please...

@Gamesdude
Your Dialga set leaves something to be desired... Steel is a terrible attacking type. Anyway Fire blast takes care of steels or even brick break!! Magnet rise is useful but not so much when you've got so many flyings around... BTW his kyogre can take care of groudon :)

As for rayquaza, you're running a physical set and you're using a special move... just go with brick break... more accurate anyway...
