Uncharted 2, GT5 and Assassin's Creed 2 are my outstanding pre-orders at the moment. Not gonna bother with Modern Warfare 2; they'll top it with Modern Warfare 3 next year or the year after.

FFXIII's battle system involves selecting actions from a finite set of options up to a possible maximum, where the player may decide not to use all their possible actions to conserve some for later. Those actions are played out in the order selected, use canned animations and may have limited interactions with one another. This is VATS without the ability to aim for specific body parts causing unique effects. I don't see what's hard about this, but I guess if you were in the habit of blindly defending Final Fantasy, you might miss it.

^mediocre RPG my ***. There wasnt any main title FF that was bad or mediocre. all were good and got great reviews and sales, some people like more of ones, other people like others, but ALL have their fans. so stop with the FF hate just cause its a sucessfull game and you think its cool to hate it.PlatinumAngel03
A game with a battle system that is VATS minus all tactical elements is going to be poor. Bethesda knew that VATS couldn't stand up on its own; Square-Enix, in their desperation to please fans of an increasingly niche genre, have decided that it must, even once they strip out the only bits that made it interesting. It's going to be a bad game. And it's going to tell a bad story, because Sakaguchi and Matsuno are gone. The reviews will all be bought so that it sounds good, and maybe a few people will convince themselves it is. But it's going to be bad.

Not only are you not the only one to think this, but you're also not the first person to ask! The other whiners moved on to Saint's Row, at least.

It's a game that's close enough in form to a movie that it should hold up well if it is handled by competent people. Who would I have act? The voice actors. Their characters are basically modelled after them!

It's been hyped out the ass and will probably rival Modern Warfare 2 and GTAIV in overall sales - FFVII managed to break 10 million units on less hype than this game - but it will be a staggeringly mediocre RPG and I look forward to enjoying the buyer's remorse this forum sees.
