Halo is not anywhere near dead.. your friends sound a little biased. The average people on Halo 3 is 300-400 thousand. If you want a quick game that you can jump right into go with COD 4 its fairly straight forward.. if you get Halo 3 it will take time to become good at it and you may get frustrated, but if that is what you like too by all means get it. Personally COD4 got boring for me pretty quick although I still play it sometimes. From what I have gathered most games on COD 4 are unrewarding (if you loose you get nothing, if you win you get nothing past level 55), also a lot of the people who play it are just the people that jump from big game to big game, where as most of the people who play Halo 3 now 6 months after release are pretty big fans.
Halo 3 has a lot of variety and just never seems to get old.. if you can get both?
Also.. disagreeing with COD4>Halo 3 doesn't make you a fan boy.. everyone has their own tastes.
Don't expect the greatest game in the world, just expect a cool battlefield type expirience and you will have a blast! Its a fun game, get it if you have extra money, otherwise just rent it.
You see, to enjoy a tactical shooter, you need this thing called skill.
COD4, Halo etc, are just frag fests. Yeh you gotta be able to aim but really its just a free for all grenade throwing noob convention.
Id much rather play a online tactical shooter. skivit
Sorry buddy Halo 3 is leagues above COD 4 in terms of skill required in an actual match. You have to worry about team work in objective games, holding weapon areas, attack and sometimes defending, not to mention once you do get into a fire fight theres more then 1 bullet hitting your oponent you have to worrry about
