You have to use a little bit of discerning to come to these conclusions. You do know that the PS3 has limited access VRAM right? It comes bundled with BR player yes? It isn't difficult to make the conclusion I have.[QUOTE="gnutux"][QUOTE="CarlosPontinas"] [QUOTE="gnutux"]I side with the XBOX 360 and am against the PS3, but seriously dude (TC), do you have a whitepaper or at least a link to back yourself up here? Your arguments are just as good as not having any arguments at all. gnutuxCarlosPontinas
You need to be more specific.

Do you have technical whitepapers or studies that shows that the PS3 is a disc reader and not a dedicated gaming machine. 'Cuz, I haven't seen such report. If there is, I wanna see that my XBOX 360 is truly a great buy :p! gnutux

It sounds to me like you don't have any resources at all and are trying to shrug that off. Anyone can come up with a random thing and say, "well it was difficult, but with much thinking, I have reached my conclusion". Just because you think somethings right doesn't make it fact

The thing about it though is that the PS3 is going to sell a lot more in the future, please no bashing, I'm trying to think about this logically:

If there are 100 million or so console gamers, then in another couple of years most of those 100 million people will own a next-gen console, probably PS3 or Xbox360 (the Wii will sell well, but that was designed for more non-console gamers such as a non-videogamer, or as a second system.)  Now with the 360 only at 9 million or so and the PS3 at close th 1 million, that leaves about 90 million people to buy a console. So why hasn't the 360 and the PS3 sold more already, because people are waiting another year or so until the PS2 and XBOX are dead, and by then many new games will be out for both consoles.  However, the PS3 probably will sell more because of games like FFXIII and MGS4 (whatever people say it is NOT coming to the 360, and that is not a fanboy quote, it is just stupid to think it will) The 360 does have some great killer Apps coming out such as Halo 3, but the games like FF and MGS are loved by the whole world, Halo is mostly American.  Also, there has been talk about a Guitar Hero 3 for PS3, and if that is true, expect sales to go up skyhigh (I know people who are buying a PS2 nowadays just for GH)

Finally, another thing you are not taking into accont is that an average console gamer will not read up on any of this such as rumors that this is coming to the 360 or that the PS3 lost this exclusive, all they know is that SONY is a name brand that they trusted last gen and that came through for them, and that the games they really want such as MGS4 and FF ARE coming to the PS3, cause while we can pray it comes to the 360, that's all we have: HOPE while the PS3 DEFINATELY already has it coming

So yes, it might just be blind fanboy "follow Sony the God", but you can expect the PS3 sales to pick up A LOT over the next year

I would say 600:1, not so good.  you really dont want anything less than 1,000:1 or 1,200:1 would be a good pick too

I was eyeing that westinghouse too and it seems like one of those too good to be true buys. Why is it $1000 less than other HDTV's? I checked bestbuy and there is also a fairly cheap toshiba 1080p TV as well but I check other places and they are $1000 more. Perhaps the market is beginning a price drop. CaptainCrazy
yeah, on Firday, Best Buy was selling 32" Westinghouse LCD 720p HDTVs for $450 it was a 7 hour special, and it sold out in a half hour or so

I have 3 questions.

1)Does an HDTV that support 1080p will also support 1080i ? I am getting confused what is the best for the PS3.

2)There is a big difference in the prize between 1080p and 1080i?

3)Will another type of format that is better be available in less than a year?

Thanks in advance!

Aaron10

1) Yes, 1080p would be better also unless the screen is 40" or less, than they would look almost identical 2) I assume you mean price? In which case yes, a good 1080p HDTV would cost no less than $2,000 while a 1080i would be more around $1,000 3) No, 1080p is the only True HD format currently know
