When will the mods here catch on to the fact that this forum is the only forum that many of us will ever use here at game spy and that locking one of the few good threads (the economy thread) is a bad things for this forum, not a good thing.

This forum is home to so much more then just every vacuous thread about cows, hermits, sheep, and lemmings. You locked a thread about something that matters to gaming and gamers as a whole so we can only post in threads that separate us into groups? Why can't we talk about the economy and how it relates to games?

If a thread like that gets locked in the only forum that really matters here at Gamespot it only keeps this forum as a place where nobody ever talks about anything, just one giant flame fest.

I own both and I love them both. The 360 library **** slaps the ps3, though. But I like the ps3 hardware more, it just needs games.

[QUOTE="knight-k"]Ok so everybody agrees MGS4 is the best game this gen (untill now) even when you don't like it.blue_hazy_basic
I don't think anyone would agree that everybody agrees MGS4 is the best game this gen

Hell no I would not agree it is the best game this gen, not even close, and I really like it. The first time I played I was in love with it. But after that there is so little game-play you really can't get any more out of it.

Take out all the cut scenes and the game is maybe five hours long, maybe.

You are a fool if you don't not value personal gain.Ninja-Hippo

No, you would be noble. ;) And the rest of your post is just garbage, plain garbage.

a) His post was not garbage. It all made perfect sense, and what he said was indeed true, actions such as his make the economic situation better, not worse.

b) It was insensitive to say "i hope it stays like this" certainly, but i wouldnt demonise him for being smart and responsible with his money. If more people were, we wouldnt be seeing crying families losing their homes.

No, if more American men had the balls to think about their responsibility to their community and not just their own personnel gain we would not be in this position.

This was corrupt banks not delinquent Americans.

I think that is the gap in understanding here. To many people think this is all on the shoulders of the people losing their homes, it's not. One of these banks actually GAVE A LOAN TO THEMSELVES. Think about that for a minute.

Corrupt business practices and people thinking about personal profit got us into this, not delinquent families.

Not one bit...

In fact I am in love on how the economy is......In combination with how stupid some people are....I picked up an additional two properties and turned them into rentals......The foreclosure was turnkey...But the short sale was a pain in the butt..

I hope it continues to be honest

masiisam

Congratulations, you are the jerk of the week on SW. Which is not saying much but in real life you must be even worse.

I am jerk because I know how to handle my finances? Or because I am not a d-bag that got roped into an interest only or variable interest home loan? When clearly I could not afford a fixed 15 or 30 year loan??..

Please..

Enlighten me more on how I am a jerk? Or are you one of the people that roped into a loan that you could not afford?

If I need to draw you a map it is even worse then I thought. You basically said that you are glad people are on hard times so you can prey on them.

Regardless of if it is their fault, which in many cases it is not, it is a shame to see someone who likes to see the entire country in a near state of crisis because he or she can use it to their advantage.

People like you are more common then compassionate people, though. I guess it is just the way the world works and will continue to work. It is still a shame.

You value personnel gain more then your fellow country men's prosperity. You sir, are a waste of space.

I really enjoyed how you tried to rationalize it by suggesting I must be "one of those people". May your death be as shallow and useless as your life.

You are a fool if you don't not value personal gain. Would I then assume that you work an entry level job making 8 bucks an hour while you are 35? If you do not.... then don't call the kettle black and hold an opinion of people when clearly you contradict you own "said" values of personal gain.

My family and I benefit only because we are wise enough to not get into a situation that cause for such hardships. That's shallow and useless? Please... People that clearly live beyond their means and do nothing to correct for the budget/additional spending are a waste of space. They create such problems that the economy is in ...not I..

You are nieve to believe that individuals are not the root of their financial situation...What planet do you live on... If they are not in charge...Who is?

In addition if it was not for people like myself that come in and relieve the note... the banks would go further into economic disruption and prolong the "crisis". Clearly you ignorant about the process as by stating " I am preying on them" .... The situation is a Win/Win..The banks are relieved of the default note and replaced with a individual that can pay the debt..The default loan holder is relieved of the debt and they can go on living their own lives... And I received the properly at a prime value.

"May your death be as shallow and useless as your life."...

Wow...You might need to get some therapy for that..You sould not live you life around anger and jealously...

You are the type of person who will never get it. All anyone has to do is look at what you said.

You hope it stays this way because you are going to make bank off of it.

You see everything as either a jealous reaction or an angry reaction. Do you know what narcissism means? Do you just try and insult people by saying they must work for 8 bucks an hour so the only reason they think you are a waste of space is because you are smarter?

One day you will reap what you sow. Integrity is more valuable then money.

You have a family, but you live alone.

You are not an idiot, though. My guess is that things like consoles and games will suffer, PC's will take less of a blow because they have so many other functions and people will buy a game for their PC on occasion.

I think you are reasonable enough to take a crack at it. Do you think that in an economy as bleak as the current US economy console games and console sales will not be hurt?

Ninja-Hippo

This is where i think you're wrong, though. You hear on the news about families who cannot afford to buy food, or are losing their homes, and that obviously is happening but that's a minority of people. A recession, (or more accurately a market slowdown... at least for now) for the majority of people means not being able to take out a loan with a good rate, or not being able to get a new mortgage, or good credit on a car. It affects those big purchases much more, and that's why entertainment products go through such high sales during times of economic slowdown because that's what people spend their money on instead.

People who cant afford to buy a new car, or go on a vacation for fun, instead spend their money on stuff like movies and games. It's a fact.

I would agree with save for the fact that I think the economy is worse then that, a lot worse. It is really not a small % of Americans. Our middle class is getting killed off and I will place a bet suggesting that by the end of this month the scope of the problem will be even more vast.

You live in the U.K., but yet in a topic about the U.S. economy, you dont even know what going on over here and yet you have a comment .

Entertainment is a luxury, not a priority. People don't need that new game or have to see that new movie.

Ninja-Hippo

There is a global recession going on right now. :| I dont understand why you're being so confrontational. I'm not saying anything controversial or insulting here, alls i did was point out how the entertainment industry booms during times of economic instability and recession. And that's a fact. :?

Also, at no point was it stated "this thread is for americans only". You need only watch the news to know there is a market slowdown, or at worst a recession in progress.

Not that I mind all that much but I do want to clarify that the above quote is not mine. I agree all of it save for the UK part. Go for it, speculate like the rest of us.

The Tunnel Rats were heroes of the Vietnam War. Their actions disabled numerous Vietnamese traps over the course of the war.

I'd be damn proud to be called a Tunnel Rat and be damn proud to hold that position and have the balls to do it.

st1ka

yes, and stupid.

Bravery and sacrifice on behalf of your comrades in arms is honorable and admirable. It sure is hell is not stupid. Cowards are stupid.

Who is it that said cowards die a thousand deaths?

Don't recall, but I agree with you.

Those guys were real badasses. They were usually the smallest and shortest of their units, because they fit in there the easiest.

Cowards die a thousand deaths. The valiant taste of death but once.

-William Shakespear

There we go.

ah didn't it was him though personally i identify myself better with this one:

Dying is easy, comedy is not

-William Shakespear

how right he is

No doubt. I did not know ( or remember at least) that one. I love it though I think I identify with the coward one a lot. I recall one time in my life when I was a coward and I let someone down and even though nobody wants to die it is so damn true. I will never get over it and the only good that has come from it is that I will never allow that to happen again.

Cowards really will die a thousand deaths.
