Working today on targeting highly ranked social users with beta codes and premium content. This should be effective in making already active members of this community, ambassadors for this community.

WOW! I am now a level 3 user at 10%. What an ineffective way to motivate me to do anything at all here. I have an idea, let's implement a game mechanics system and not tell our users how to advance in rank, that should motivate them to syndicate content, comment and be active users. Internets Fail.

So I'm a UI designer working on mocks of this site actually--and I must say. Game mechanics rock! I must say, even to someone such as myself WHO KNOWS the point of game mechanics, they still compel me to make that little status bar on the left rise. Ugh, WHYYYY!!! Either way, having a good time.

So I finally saw the Social Network this weekend. I work in social networking. It was good, but just stressed me out about how much work was waiting for me on Monday. What I thought worked? My opinion of Mark Zuckerberg didn't change after the movie. That's good because I read a lot of articles on him and feel pretty well informed of his mannerisms and misdemeanor. What didn't work? Justin Timberlake was a great actor, but he is nothing like Sean Parker. Sean is a playboy, but he's a total goober, definitely not a JT. Oh well, go see it, it's worth it.

Where have UI standards gone? Out the door is where. A developer can no longer depend on UI best practices in this day of ever-changing devices. Not only are devices changing operating systems but hardware as well. Restraints such as screen sizes are a thing of the past. And mice and keyboards? Peace out. If you are into development, you need a crack designer who can adapt to any situation.
