I think it just depends on how much time you take to go through the game... I have a feeling that most reviewers rush through most of the game to be able they finish it intime to give it a proper rating.ag1052

That's fair enough, but I also read the game is around 20 hours, and I finished it in 12:30 (granted I only had around 75%, but still). Either way though, great game (except for the ending).

I've read in a few reviews of the game that there's an annoying fetch mission near the end to get energy cells. Having been playing it recently, I was waiting for that part to come up, and I had a feeling it was for the area I thought it was. However, when I got to the point where I needed them, I never had to go on a fetch mission. I found every energy cell I needed while searching for stuff on other planets, and never had to stop what I was doing to go look for energy cells.

I'm curious: did I get lucky or something? My gameplay was not halted whatsoever, because it was pretty much mandatory to get the energy cells to find other stuff that I needed.

Whether a game is 12 years old or out yesterday doesn't matter we paid $40 bucks for RE, and yea I loved it. And I'll probably love HS, but did anyone read that last link with the 16+? It could very well be 16 hour game.

caseypayne69

Whether a game is 12 years old or out yesterday DOES matter. Technology has advanced a LOT in 12 years. People don't want to spend $600 for a console and then another $60 for a game that's 6 hours long. People have already stated why Resident Evil was different. Hell, I do speed runs of Megaman games with a friend, and he can beat one of the Megaman X games, including finding every bonus thing in the game, in just over an hour. Does that mean the game was not worth the price when it came out, or that it's a bad game? No, because he's played it so much that it wouldn't take that long the first time through, AND newer technology allows more space in the games.

As for the 16 hour thing, it clearly is an age rating when IGN said it was around 6 hours and the developer said 12-15 hours. Developers always overstate length too.

I am actually the exact same. I find it's not worth the time trying to logically argue with some of the people on here (and I feel bad for the ones that do actually try to have decent discussions, as it's always ruined by crazy fanboys). However, if I ever feel like getting some gaming news, I come right to this forum, because I know it'll be on here if it's important.

I'm going to have both as soon as I can get them, that's for sure, but for now it's Guitar Hero 3. I know what I'm getting into, I know what it's like, and it's only improving on the formula produced by the first 2. The tracklist so far kicks some major ass too, and that's what it's all about, the songs.

GH is easy though. The most casual kid I know got to expert in a week. I was done with Hard on GH1 within a half a week and stopped playing, guess what, I can still play some songs on hard even without playing for months. It took me 4 years to get where I am now in DDR and I'm still not even close to being satisfied, even after full comboing many many songs.Tiefster

It's that casual appeal that makes it so popular. It's accessible. If you're hardcore and into rhythm games to the point where it takes you 4 years just to get high up in DDR, then kudos to you for doing your thing. Comments like that make someone who's more casual like me want to never attempt that game because I don't want to take years to get good at a video game (unless it is extremely fun, in which case I'm not just playing it to be good).

I'd much rather play some GH with friends and sing along and crank the awesome tracks up to 11 than play extremely fast J-pop or techno music.

Ya, saw that a little while ago. If the Wii version has extra motion-sensing capabilities besides just making the guitar go vert for Star Power, than it'll probably seal the deal for me for the Wii version over the others.

"The publisher also said that it will be offering downloadable content for the game on multiple platforms, and stressed that it has entered into partnerships with "all the major and independent record labels and music publishers to allow unrivaled access to their deep history of music catalogs.""

Well, that seals it too, really.

Haha yeah right, I smell BS. No one can beat Jordan on that mode in their first shot, on hard mode maybe because its a helluva lot easier but not on expert. Same with Six, The Light that Blinds, Thunderhorse, Freebird and Less Talk, More Rokk are all insanely difficult on Expert, I have been playing the game since Christmas and even I cant 5 star those songs and I am damn good at the game.DSgamer64

Beating Jordan on a first try is a stretch, ya. The Light that Blinds, Thunderhorse and Less Talk, More Rokk are believable for beating on the first try if he is as good as he says he is (and really, who cares if he is).

The reason the GH games are so great is the music. Based on that Youtube link that was posted, I can tell I wouldn't like the music in the game. The tracks are what make the game. Maybe those tracks and that music is popular in Japan, and maybe that's why it does so well, but Guitar Hero has exploded in North America because of the casual appeal, easy accessibility, the fun multiplayer, and most of all the great songlists, which aren't filled with the super-fast techno beats or stuff like that.

I could care less about being that fast. I want to have fun playing, and I do every time I fire up GH.

Rock Band seems like such a Guitar Hero ripoff, the only difference is that Fender is endorsing it and EA has the money to get the licenses for all the songs to be original, whereas Harmonix was limited to doing covers (some of which sucked). As a guitar player, I can safely say that Guitar Hero is a great recreation of playing the instrument, and while it may not be as advanced, it sure is a challenge and gets you working your fingers.DSgamer64

I'm guessing you don't know, but Harmonix is the one making Rock Band. They moved from the GH franchise (which is now being made primarily by Neversoft) to what is now Rock Band, hence the similarity.

Also, both GH3 and Rock Band should have a lot more master tracks then either of the first two GH games ever had.

As for Neversoft making it now, that's true, but they seem to be sticking to the formula pretty well while adding some nice new features. Also, the songlist is pretty nice so far, with tracks like "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones, "The Metal" by Tenacious D and "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse to name a few.

Also, there's a picture now of the Wii GH3 guitar, and it involves the wiimote in the guitar (obviously, it's wireless). If they incorporate the motion sensing into the game, that could make it that much more unique and worth getting.
