no I don't think it was. fun game no doubt but it didn't expand on any of the former RE games. They pretty much just milked the RE name and characters and made a whole new game. They pretty much completely took out all of the puzzles and made the game kinda linear. There was now way you could get lost on where to go. It pretty much had nothing to do with umbrella, or said anything on how wesker got his "super powers"

I guess I just didn't like that they didn't follow up on the umbrella/RE story

Haha you are either a new gamer or never played Chrono Trigger. Dude the development team was called the dream team and the game itself was called the dream project for a reason. The game did EVERYTHING right from story, graphics, battle system to characters. There is a reason why so many ppl call it the best game of all time, theres a reason why it made the gamespot greatest games of all time list, there is a reason why an independent group even decided to make a remake.

There is no RPG in the last two generations in gaming that has come close to what Chrono Trigger has done.

ok first of all I didn't like XII much. I didn't like the battle system much, didn't like the characters much and sure as hell didn't like the license board. The one thing I don't like about ANY of the FFs is that in the end all your characters end up being the same. The only difference in your characters is their limit breaks. VII for example, any character can get any materia so basically all the characters have the same abilities and spells. It doesn't matter which charater you take to fight any boss, just depends how you got your materia fixed. In FFX its even worse, by the end of the game after doing 80% of the monster arena most of you characters have the same spells, abilities and even stats cuz of the stupid sphere grid. I'll admit I did enjoy both games though.

What I like in RPGs is unique character ala of course Chrono Trigger. I'm sure you could tell thats my fave game ever from the username lol. back on topic: in Chrono Trigger all teh characters were different, none of them had the same spells or stats. You actually had to think about which characters you were gonna take to fight each boss' weakness. Unique characters and double and triple techs are what made Chrono Trigger's battle system GREAT. the battle system and the story are what made Chrono Trigger one of the best games of all time and the GOAT imo.

but back on thread topic yes I'll probably buy XIII if its like XII just cuz its final fantasy. might not finish the game though.

Chrono Cross was nothing compared to Trigger. Cross took everything that made Trigger great (best ever) and threw it out the window.

Time travel=gone

a bunch of double techs= gone

bunch of triple techs=gone,

unique skills for characters=gone,

Active time bar=gone

Cross had way too many characters, most of the characters didn't have an interesting story or got developed much. The few double and triple techs that Cross did have were pretty crappy, each character only had 2-3 unique techs thats weak. Even the main characters in Cross were nothing compared to the mains in Trigger. Serge ain't got nothing on Crono and Lynx can't even be compared to Magus.

What I would like to see on PS3 though would be a brand new Chrono game, being more like Trigger than Cross. I want unique techs for every character not elements, I want a bunch of double and triple techs, time travel back, and at most 10 characters.
