Simple question. Given the current format, offerings, content, and experience provided by Sony's PSN and Microsofts XBL, does PSN still have "catching up" to do to XBL?

I have owned a PS3 for a while, but have yet to play MGS4. The reason for this is that I wanted to play the previous 3 before playing 4.
However, I have watched complete walkthroughs of 1 and 2 online, and have read the plot sequence for 3 a few times as well.
So, I ask...should I go ahead and get 4? Or do I need to go out, buy a PS2, and play the previous 3?
Where can I download these online?
Thanks in advance.
The next Grand Theft Auto...
I'm trying to decide between a 360 and PS3, and oddly enough, one of the factors pushing me towards the 360 is the controller. It feels perfect for nearly everything, especially FPS games. While the DS3 is nice for most games, it just feels so awkward for me on FPS games.
Am I alone in my thinking here?
The fact is, I don't own an Xbox 360, yet I can play Viva Pinata, Bioshock, Gears of War, and Mass Effect all on my PC. And this fall, I'll be able to play Alan Wake as well.
And the thing is, I don't have a $2000 system. It's a simple, 1.5 year old $500 Dell. I added a $90 8600GT, and all the games play just fine.
If Microsoft really wants to say they have the better exclusive games with the 360, they should probably try to keep them on the 360 only.
I believe the 5 primary contenders for game of the year will be,
Gears of War 2
Grand Theft Auto IV
Spore
Metal Gear Solid 4
Starcraft 2
[QUOTE="Cwill127"]Keep in mind "exclusive" means on that system ONLY. I don't own a 360 (or a PS3, actually), but when I can play Mass Effect well on my $600 Dell, that means its NOT exclusive to the 360.
But right now, I must say, by the end of 2008, the PS3 will actually have a better exclusive game list than the 360. jknight5422
Let's dumb that down:
I, hermit, play Mass Effect on PC, so that mean PS3 have better game.
That's some great neanderthalic logic.
No need to flame. I don't just play Mass Effect alone. My PC games include Mass Effect, Bioshock, CSS, WoW, and Gears. I almost bought AoC yesterday, but decided against it.
Anyway, my point is not how quickly the PS3 will catch up in sales or whatever. I'm talking about genuine, exclusive games to the system that can't be found anywhere else.
My argument is that, at the end of the year, the dominant online games on the PS3 will be exclusive to that system (LBP, SOCOM, Resistance 2, and Warhawk). Throw in Uncharted and MGS4 as some stellar single player exlsuives, and that is an impressive exclusive list of SOLID titles to the system that is arguably as good or better than the list of exclusives found on the 360.
I'm just saying. How many of the top games on XBL are exclusive to the Xbox? Halo 3? Forza?
By the end of this year, you have Warhawk, Resistance II, SOCOM: Confrontation, and Little Big Planet all with huge online communities, and all ONLY on the PS3.
Throw in a stellar single player game with MGS4, and all of a sudden, you have a pretty solid foundation of exclusive titles.
