@Spartan_418: Possibly, but I wouldn't put it past MS to have it run a special version of Win 11 - or not at all. GamePass for instance can stream games to a Surface Tablet, so it's possible an MS handheld might just be streaming only with GamePass. Details are scarce currently.
The other, other issue is lack of Japanese audience. Nintendo clearly has that handheld market and the gaming market in general in Japan. The top selling games there are dominated by Switch, followed by a smattering of PS5.
@brimmul777: yes, the fabled "kennan" project. Supposedly it will be running Windows 11 with a focus on Gamepass.
But really, it will be competing with Steamdeck, just without Steamdeck's library. I can't see the point when MS says one thing (we're *totally* all-in on hardware) but doing the opposite via their actions, like porting MS exclusive games to Playstation and putting 100% of Xbox titles on PC. Don't forget the massive Gamepass push and acquisition of software companies.
@brimmul777: MS will most likely be exiting the hardware game soon. I wouldn't expect much out of them in that way. Everything they've done indicates a shift to software focus only.
@xnshd: I'm old enough to remember all the hardware Sega was pushing. 32x, Sega CD, etc. The 32x was especially poor, because as soon as it arrived in North America, Saturn was announced in Japan.
@xnshd: It may indeed be a positive for both MS and gamers.
Sega did the same; and it saved their company (not claiming MS is in any danger). Today, there's quite a few Sega titles I enjoy.
I think MS can make more money and do more if they leave hardware. It's no secret that hardware is usually a loss leader. So cut that, and just sell software on PC/other platforms.
