I use Stopping Power, I don't see what's wrong with it at all. I agree with most posters on here, I really hate the Grenade Launcher, I find so many games ruined by these. I can't seem to play a match without there being swarms of these noobs, and it's one of the major reasons I rarely play MW2 online anymore. Martyrdom was another one that just seemed totally cheap to me.
I would love to see another Silent Hill title, but as long as it was done properly. The last SH game that I really enjoyed was Silent Hill 3, and since then the series has been fast going down the toilet. The Room was disappointing and badly designed, Origins was dreadful and while Homecoming was a decent game in it's own right, it wasn't a good Silent Hill title. Homecoming seemed too much like the new Resident Evil titles (which I admittedly did enjoy). I'd also agree with the poster who said that action is killing the horror genre in games. While the reboot in the RE series was probably necessary to keep the serie fresh, I still miss the more horror focused days of the series. I'm interested to play the new Shattered Memories, just to say that I've had a go, but I don't have a Wii and I haven't seen it around for PS2. It seems to be that without the original 'Team Silent' who created the first three, the series just doesn't work.
Heavy Rain has been something I've been looking forward too for a long time, and it was an absolute treat to play, especially having been a fan of their previous work like Fahrenheit. Sure, it had it's flaws but it's one of the very best games I have played in a long time! I really felt I was in my element with Heavy Rain, it was a masterclass of storytelling (yes, there were a few plot holes) and character developement. I am very interested to see what Quantic Dream come up with next!
I never really think of myself as someone who thinks the graphics are the make or break of a game, but I find myself certainly noticing when they're bad. They are definitely important is terms of reviewing a game, it's just one of the many things taken into consideration, and it's getting more important as technology improves. I think the expectations of next-gen consoles are such that their games need to boast amazing graphics as part of the package, and it certainly helps in the selling of a title. Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII for instance used their spectacular visuals in their marketing. For me on a personal level, I care more about the story and characters. They have to be strong in order for me to really get into and love a game, and stunning visuals are an added bonus, such as with the a fore mentioned Heavy Rain.
Yeah I still replay 'old' games all the time, like the original Metal Gear or Silent Hill. They still remain among my favourite titles. But in some cases I there are some games I just can't revisit. Recently I plugged in my old Megadrive and played some games I remembered being amazing when I was younger, and in replaying them, they were were rarely as I remember, and I was disappointed. In some instances I think it is just better to have the fond memories.
I was a bit thrown by them when I first played the demo, but after a little while on the actual game I soon got used to them. It's interesting, and works well along with being able to select listening to the characters thoughts. Admittedly there were points where the movement control was really frustrating, but overall I kind of liked it!
