Have you seen the latest GameSpot poll?
It queries readers on the subject of keeping a journal, pointing out that a whopping 87% actually does not keep a journal. And I'm glad.
I don't have all the time in the world, but what time I do have I try to check other peoples journals. What I really look for is people who actually write a decent piece, pointing out their opinion on certain (gaming) facts. I tend to quickly skip the 2 lines-per-post style journals as well, they don't really interest me. Not that I'm saying a journal should be interesting, its all up to the writer. For all I know I'm writing the most boring journal ever, although I do try to give it a somewhat relevant tone. Any comments/suggestions are welcome, ofcourse.
On a lighter note, Tribes Vengeance !! :D
Yeah, I'm a fanboy, sure. But you have to admit the jetpacking/skiing is just too cool. Last night I managed to score 6 out of 7 flag caps for my team, without firing a single shot! Man, do I love that grappler! If anyone happens to notice a flag runner who keeps hitting up a taunt every time he caps a flag and goes by the nick of "dloko.net", give me a shout, or a scream, or a yawn. ;)
PS.
I got OPM2 for the Burnout 3 Takedown demo.
To quote Jeff Gerstmann: "Even if driving games aren't normally your thing, Burnout 3 is still right for you. Its that good."
Don't know if I'll have the finances to get it tho, I need a new HDD and a GeForce 6600 GT to survive these winter months and I'm afraid my PS2 is gonna suffer.. ooh hope she didn't read that.

Friends, and the debacle of a Tribe Vengeance free beta
by D-LoKo on Comments
Today, I want to start with friends.
This weekend I finally got around to indulging myself in the community side of GameSpot. Its pretty neat from what I've seen and I especially admire the high amount of good spelling and grammar in posts. One feature I really like is "friends". For one thing it makes interesting journals that much easier to follow, and when someone accepts or requests you as a friend, it gives a pretty nice feeling. I want to say hi to my new GameSpot friends, alexsalvador and Lazlow1988, what's up guys! That odd guy Locke_ needs no hollers as he can't be ****ed to read let alone write any journal of sorts. Yes indeed, he's one of those. Besides I seem him every week, he's a "real life" friend. But enough of that, time to rant about gaming.
Tribes, one of my loves in life. I've pretty much hung-up one Tribes ever since I played the original Starsiege Tribes at a LAN I organised. Its vehicle-based combat accross vast distances with multiple objectives is just so cool. No wonder every new game is copying it, the only reason the original Tribes never caught on is that it was to much for the average gamer of that time. Hah, noobs.
Anyway Tribes 2 has got to be my favourite game of all time (with a record of 7 hours non-stop on the same server) and now its sequel lies just around the corner. Due for an october release, Tribes Vengeance is sure getting my blood pumping. And so I was sitting in front of my pc yesterday, just staring at my screen, when Locke_ told me about a Tribes Vengeance free beta! He found out that FilePlanet got exclusive hosting (yes indeed, that'll be a 9.0+ score for Tribes Vengeance on GameSpy) and was offering it to all registered members. I was so excited I could wet myself! This all went rather pear-shaped when I saw that the download was 459.1mb and my nasty ISP's download limit only allowed 250mb untill my monthly limit period was over! Which is wednesday! AArghhhh...
So there you go, the drama of my life. Now all that remains is to ask around and see if any friends of mine would be kind enough to download it for me...

The Drama of Ryzom
by D-LoKo on Comments
Here I sit, on the brink of my first GameSpot journal post. A cup of 2-hour old coffee by my side, about to head out for a saturday night of social delight.
But that doesn't mean I don't have anything to say...
I decided to have a peek at DLX yesterday, and I stumbled upon a link to the open beta download for The Saga of Ryzom, a somewhat promising MMORPG. I believe its meant to blend sci-fi and fantasy and it has some nice features, and hell you can try it free of charge for 2 weeks pending release. :)
After the rather hefty 1.1gb download (on some pretty overcrowded server I tell you) I was excited to play it , but that all turned grey when I found out my install kept going bad at the end, displaying a nasty error. Now I'm not sure what the cause is, perhaps its a faulty download due to the overcrowded server or maybe its a general fault. I guess I can try checking the forums a bit. If anyone reading this has experience in this matter, please message me about this! Thanks!
Right thats it, loko out.
