An SSD would do wonders for general usability. Just another mechanical hard drive would have little effect. Also I dont want to have to make another topic, but my laptop has been run slow lately and I was wondering if I could just get a new hard drive to make it run faster. It takes about 10 secs to boot up but when I am on the desktop it takes a few minutes for me to open any programs. Also could I make any other upgrades to it.

I think both would be pretty terrible. A mouse would work okay for emulating games that only use the Wiimote as a cursor, but anything that has more motion (Wii Sports like you mentioned) would still be unplayable. Either one would only work as a stopgap for games where accurate wiimote support might not be necessary. But any game that supports classic controllers should be able to work on the gamepad without any issue at all.A mouse would be a perfect pointer substitution for a Wiimote..........an analog stick on the other hand would be straight up TERRIBLE! Imagine trying to play Wii Sports or shooting games that were made for the motion controls with the Gamepads analog sticks, YUCK! I think most of you are seriously overlooking how much work would have to go into getting the Gamepad to work with alot of Wii games. They were meant to be played with a Wiimote, not analog sticks.Â
Just take this feature for what it is, turning your Wii U Gamepad into a little tv for playing Wii games if someone else is using the big screen.Â

I've read that the Dolphin emulator (hope that's okay to mention that here...) allows you to use the mouse as a Wii pointer. How does that work?AtelierFanEmulation of the system that tracks the IR spots on the sensor bar, I guess. There's no technical reason why Nintendo couldn't implement something similar with the right analog stick. It would be clunky, sure, but it would work.
Your phrasing is hilarious. Yes, you could use a mouse, but this bypasses a step and just streamlines things for a simpler experience. I personally have no use for it as like you I'll just use a mouse prior to picking up a controller, but I can see why people would use and enjoy big picture mode.let say I wanted to make like suck and use a controller, couldn't I use my mouse to get around and pick up a controller to play games??
