Picked up the orange box as well from bestbuy.com. It's still on sale online for those who could not find it at the store

Exact same situation i'm in. On one hand it would be cool to have a quad core, but on the other hand it seems that no applications that i use will utilize all four cores resulting in wasted money. Any known games upcoming to take any real advantage, meaning more then 5-10%, over dual cores besides maybe crysis?

If your not going to overclock then there would be no reason to go with 1066( unless you just want to tighten the timings), as most likely your motherboard would default pc 1066 speeds down to 800

I've been looking around at some of the same stuff and found a few deals you might want to take

Abit IP35 $137.55 - $25 rebate ( the page says $20 but link shows it at $25) good til 25th

And saw the OCZ GameXStream 700w with a newegg newsletter coupon code (if your a newegg newsletter suscriber) at Slickdeals.net ($20 coupon code EMC713DOCZ7) This was posted last saturday so i'm not sure how long they last though

Well its been a while since i've bought any computer hardware (2003) and it seems it's about that time again. Right now this is what i have: p4 2.4c @ 3Ghz, 1gb ddr pc4000, 6800gt , so it seems i'll need mostly a new system. If you could help advise me on a few things i would appreciate it.

I'm on the fence on which path to upgrade and I'm trying to keep the price down since i don't game as much as i use to.

Path 1: Grab a Q6600 once the july 22 price cut hits. Would probably keep this for a couple years at the least.

Path 2: Grab a E4400 and try to overclock it to around 3Ghz. Would keep it until for atleast 2 years or more depending if multicore apps were the norm.

Path 3: Grab a E6550 due to the 4mb cache it has instead of the E4400 2mb cache

Question 1: With path 1 it's alittle bit more "future proof" but as it stands i don't use any programs at all that will utilize all four cores. I realize that a few games coming out will utilize them ( Crysis, hl2 episode 2, bioshock) but it seems that they will still run great on dual core processors to run at high settings. Opinions?

Question 2: In path 2 vs. 3 would the 2mb cache vs. 4mb cache make a difference worth $50?

Question 3: By the time i plan on upgrading again ( min 2 years) would the new P35 chipset still be in use, therefore being able to keep the motherboard and getting a new proc? If not would it be worthwhile to get a P35 mobo just for use of ddr3 eventually?

Question 4: Would i still be able to use my old power supply? ( Enermax EG465P -VE 460 watt power supply)

Sorry for all the questions.Thanks
