How do you clean the Slimeline models lens, cause i was playing grand theft auto las tnight and that game has a tendency to crash as u all  know, and i was driving really fast then the game crashed, so i took the disc out and swiped it and put it back in but the game didn'y un-crash just went to some screen saying the disc tray has been opened. so i then thought ill just restart it, so i pressed the power button on my slimeline PS2 and nothing happened... so i  pressed it again nothing happened... i then tried pushing it really hard but to no evail... so i then pulled out the plug from behind the ps2 and. put it back in. the console then restarted i then get a disc reading error, so i take out the cd swipe it again  and put it back in and i still get this error.... so i then tried several other quite new games including " NFSMW" The warriors" "burnout revenge" and i still got the error, i went on a few faqs sites... and i have come to the conclusion that something is on my lens, so i would love to know how to clean the lens manualy. because all the other faq sites tell you how to clean the old versions PS2's lence not the new slime line model. Sinerster

First, open the disc tray, then take a Q-Tip and squirt some window cleaner on it, then apply it to the lens in a swirling motion, going all the way across the lens and then allow it to dry, wait for like 3 min, then put your game back in and start it up, I used to do that with my original PlayStation, and that always did the trick for me, when it would'nt read the disk.

Yeah, I am not joking about it. The technique has worked for me. My cousin taught me it a few years back. I have been able to fix multiple games of mine doing so that had scratches or glitches in loading processes (a new copy of Dark Cloud 2, a used copy of Final Fantasy 8, a used copy of ICO, etc). Make sure it is smooth peanut butter tho. Let it sit a iittle while and then wash it under cold water, making sure all the peanut butter is removed before you insert it in the ps2 again. And when you wash it off, wash from the inside out. It may be good to use some sort of soft cloth or something as well. If you are stil skeptical about this and dont want to risk a game for whatever reason, test it out on an old one or a small area of one. But, personally, I recommend trying this to whomever cannot figure out how to surmount a disk error problem. Tumus

Best just to go out and purchase a Disc DR., it's good for like 25-30 resurfaces and replacement wheels are available, plus "It does work"..:)

Well, if you had said that you agreed with all of them, then you would've had your post deleted, just like mine was for what a moderator called "Disruptive posting" or "SPAM", take your pick", I guess the title says it all, "A few reminders... read or be burned". Burned being the keyword here.

Why...Why...??,

Does everyone seem to have DRE probs..?, I think that I have had only "one real serious DRE, in the whole time that I have owned my PlayStation 2", if people would just realize that it's a piece of electronic equipment, like some other things that you more than likely have in your house, I.E....Stereo System,  PC's...well, you get the idea...;), those all have to be "maintained", otherwise, they tend to break down and or have problems with them...;).....save yourselves some time, when you purchase a system( and that goes for any Game console, not just Playstations..;) ), pick up a DVD lens cleaner along with it, every 60 hrs of playing time, pop that in and clean the consoles lens, it'll save a lot of heartache and finger pointing "PS 2's were designed to break down"...LMAO, yea...that's a real intelligent statement...:P, if so, then it must be a conspiracy then, becuase most everyone that I know that bought an X-Box, had problems with their's within 4 months of buying it, not only that, but you could say that everything is basically designed to break down, if you don't take proper care of it.

The main point is, "Take care of your system", it's like an investment and you'll want to keep it for some time, every 60 hrs of use, clean the lens with a DVD lens cleaning disk and blow the vents out with Comprresed air, it's just an idea, maybe "some are more serious, but the majority I think are due to some people being lazy and thinking , "I don't have to worry about it" and not taking proper care of what they bought. ...;)
