I just want to recommend Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood to anybody who isn't watching the show. It's basically the manga portrayal of what happened in Fullmetal Alchemist, after the first 10 or so episodes the show takes a completely different storyline then the manga and it's kind of interesting. The original series was pretty good also but Brotherhood's perspective is fresh and seems to give characters like Roy Mustang more of a role. Especially Lt. Maria Ross. She plays a "pivotal role" in the series, as I will say. Not wanting to give to much.
I thought the show was basically the same as the original series and it does start out almost identitical but when the show becomes different it's almost a sight to see. As someone said it has as intellectually stimulating as Death Note and you have characters that you really care about like in an action anime. Two winning things.
Definitely recommend it to anyone who has seen the first series or not seen it. Check it out!
