Music Industry Bores Me

I think the music industry is honestly starting to bore me. How is it that Hannah Montana has the #1 album in the country? A feat that great artists like the Clash or the Who never managed to accomplish. What happened to good old days when the Grunge/Alternative Revolution was going on, and Hip Hop used to mean something with the chronic, not to mention you have much more talented stars like TLC writing songs like Waterfalls. Now look at this decade? Everything's gone to shambles. What happened?

Well I guess Kurt Cobain (anniversary of his death already passed) and his suicide forever changed the Grunge World, that along with the death of Jeff Buckley, and the rise of the Spice Girls really put a damper on the way music has been shaped ever since. Though Radiohead did release "OK COMPUTER" during this period, probably the best album of the decade.

Now fast forward to today, the only people making really music are artists a decade earlier like Radiohead (my favorite band in the world), Pearl Jam, Muse, Wilco, Out Kast, White Stripes, Rage Against the Machine, etc....while some of their contempories have sold out at the same respect, ahem....Chris Cornell, Metallica and U2.

Not to mention the hip hop, which has just become a bunch of cheap garbage, I think true old school hip hop artists would probably be ashamed with the way the genre is going, and then look at pop music. Britney Spears? Come on. She shaved her head off, and has proved that she has virtually no talent, yet the media which violently destroyed her now brings her back and she suddenly becomes popular again? You've got to be kidding me.

Then you've got all these fake rockers like Fall Out Boy, basically tools to the MTV Corporation, doesn't matter not like they had much talent to begin with.

Don't forget the reality competitions, which though entertaining, try to craft individually talented singers into models for modern day American consumerism. AHEM, American Idol.

However what's most offense probably is how these un-talented Disney stars became so powerful? Miley Cyrus might be good but the way she has totally brainwashed the pretween audience and their parents into buying her records and seeing her movie, that's just insane. Then there is the Jonas Brothers, and the rest of these Disney characters who the media are overhyping, and overselling to young adolescents.

It's kind of a shame really, that there are only a few really talented artists out there. No wonder radio sales have gone down and CD sales as well. The Music industry is in shambles because talent has been silenced, I swear that I probably see more talent at a subway station then I do through most of the airwaves.

Honestly I'm waiting for that underground revolution where a new type of music really breaks through. I'm hoping it comes soon, but then again when that revolution comes it'll be over saturated and overmarketed again ruined by the media. Though I don't care, I just want something good, better yet something REAL.
