Saw the first episode of the Leno show, and I didn't find it all that interesting. Jay Leno is a very interesting comedian but he caters toward middle america. He is not known for creating "edgy or out there humor." He's more of a conventional comedian, a straight laced comedian. People often call Leno "a big softie" compared to Letterman who is more unconventional and edgy. However watching the two shows, Leno is a much more presentable personality then Letterman, which played a factor of him getting his own show. Now for the much hyped first episode. Okay.
Leno does a few monologue jokes, some of them painful others of them were sort of funny, he doesn't allude to his new show at all. Then he does a kind of boring segment at the car wash with this comedian who sings. I kind of got bored at this point, finally Seinfeld comes and gives an interesting dialogue with Leno, although without the desk it feels more like an episode of Tavis Smiley or an episode of the Dick Cavett show (google that one up Millenials). The interview is cut short, Leno has Kanye for an interview. Kanye nearly breaks down crying, and I do feel sorry for him, playing the sympathy card but clearly he screwed up big time. Then a musical performance with Jay-Z, Kanye and the sexy Rihanna. Then headlines.
I found most of the show kind of dull and un-eventful. Leno wasn't upbeat or on his game, it seemed like one of those medicore Tonight Show episodes. When Conan got the Tonight Show he was atleast a lot more entertaining annd though viewers have fled him, however Conan created a great deal of energy in his show, Leno's show just seemed like an excercise in trying not to fall asleep. If you even constitute that as an excercise.
It was the first episode so I'll cut it slack, but I'm sure it'll get better. I like Leno, he knows "celebrities" i'm sure it'll become popular.
