NBC: What happened?

I was creating a post on the off-topic thread and I was just thinking to myself what the heck happened to NBC? I remember when the network was so dominant with the Cosby Show, Cheers, Night Court, Seinfeld, etc.....it was even dominant after Cosby finished as Seinfeld became huge, and ER became big as well, not to mention there other programs. Practically everything on NBC was about quality. I think around 1998 things seemed to change when Seinfeld ended in it's 9th season, then the next year George Clooney the biggest star of their #1 hit ER decided to leave. Talk about fortunes changing? Still NBC hung on with ER, Friends and Frasier. Things however began to get worse as ER got weaker, as well as when Frasier and Friends finally left NBC. That was around 2004. The last decent year for the network since then everything has become kind of horrid. Other then Jay Leno all of their programs have been underperforming. They thought they found hope in Heroes in 2006 but that show turned out to be a ratings hit for a season but by the time of the second season the show slid off the map. NBC doesn't have much to offer except Biggest Loser but that show wears out it's concept quite fast especially considering it's competing against better quality reality programs like Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol. It's funny cause the quality of NBC reality programming is pretty weak in itself, which is a statement about how horrible the network is. They did Superstars of Dance, not that great at all. NBC is in need of a hit right now, anything. Who knows, Harry Potter is popular maybe they could make a series out of it, nope knowing NBC They'd probably just screw it up worse then before.
