If you split the signal there will be a loss of quality. Also the 360 only outputs one connection at a time you have to choose either the HDMI port or the VGA port. You can have both connected at the same time with moding but you wouldnt get a mirroring effect on both monitors as only one will have the immage at any one time.acesion

How does the Xbox know which output to use if both are connected? I didn't think you needed to manually set it in the Xbox settings.

I might be best off going the VGA splitter/amp route anyway. I was looking at a 400mhz splitter/amp, which I'm hoping will do the trick.

[QUOTE="mYsTiCf4c3"]no you can't both plugs don't even fit at the same time in the backiamsickofspam

Are you sure? both cables dont fit?, i think they will, but i dont think both will work at the same time.

I got an adaptor in the box with my elite that connects to the AV out of the 360, it allows me to use a fibre optic(digital optical) cable for outputting sound without having a HDMI sound setup.

It must fit, otherwise it would be pointless having the adaptor.

Both cables will fit but you have to use a 3rd party set of VGA cables (or mod the microsoft ones).

My other option was to just use VGA and run into a 2-way SVGA splitter/amplifier. Running to both the TV and monitor. I would rather use the HDMI option but still I run into the same question.

Will the Xbox be able to handle both screens? Or will there be loss of video quality? Will the GPU need to work double time?

I would try it out but I don't have my 360 yet...

For some reason I cannot find anyone that can answer this question for me.

I am going to pick up a 360 Premium with HDMI and VGA cables.

Can I output to both my LCD TV (using the HDMI cable) AND my LCD monitor (using VGA cable) at the same time.

I don't even want to run both at the same time, I just want to be able to toggle between the 2 if I would choose to. Basically I have my TV in one room and Monitor in another. (Wireless controller works fine through the wall.)

Fitting both plugs at the same time is not a problem, I've already figured that out, I just need to know if the Xbox can handle it. Will the Xbox try and render everything 2X even though I am only using one device at a time (whether it be TV or Monitor).

There has to be SOMEONE out there that has tried this.

Any help is appreciated.

Wondering the same thing. I've heard of some people able to pop the plastic casing off the xbox vga connector so that both can plug in at the same time.

Probably a simple question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

If I have a 360 premium, which has both A/V output and HDMI output. Can I output to 2 displays at the same time?

ie. Use VGA to my PC monitor and HDMI to my LCD TV?

Would this degrade picture quality if even possible?

You can get speakers with aux in for like $30, and the Microsoft brand VGA cables are $30 only.

Cheap speakers:

Yeah, I was also thinking, I could just get a female/female adapter and plug the 360 into one end and speakers into the other.... Not sure why I didn't think of that earlier.

Okay, it's starting to look like this venture is not going to save me as much as I thought.

Monitor.................... $300

VGA Cables.............. $40

Speakers w/aux in.... $100 ?

I know I can run it through my PC, but would really rather not... but that's on me.

Thanks for the info.

On the subject of sound.

Can I run the sound from my 360 into the headphone jack on my standalone computer speakers, or do I need a seperate Aux In jack on my speakers? Is the headphone jack just for output?
