OK this happens to me all the time and i hope it works for you toMake sure the cable cord for ure modem is the MAIN cable if the cable cord is divided with a seperater xbox live wont work try ure modem in a main room (living room)

The cord that gose into ure pc .....put it in ure xbox then go to network settings and test connection
ure xbox should of came with a eathernet cable(looks like a phone cord) connect it to ure xbox and ure router then go to ure network settings and test ure connection
