Joining Gamespot and STALKER

Well, I just recently joined gamespot, and I've spent the first day and a half of membership trying my best to add all of my games to my collection. I probably don't own that many to some of you, but, hey, there's quite a lot packed in there. Countless hours of fun those games have given me through my childhood and teenage years. Gotta love Video Games. I should really go back and replay some of those, and find the ones I seem to have misplaced. ANYWAY, I've been lurking gamepost without joining for years, mostly for reviews, walkthroughs, and occasionily cheats. But I was bored out of my mind and was looking to join the community so I created an account. Maybe I should actually talk about a video game? Well, a friend of mine reccomended S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl , And I just recently purchased it on Steam a few days ago. I was a bit skeptical of whether or not I'd enjoy it, because I don't tend to go for horror games. But after playing it I've found it's not really a horror game at all, it's many genres and so much more. You can't really describe it. It's like some sort of a crossover between Half-Life 2 and Oblivion. And, well, I'm blown away. I've put in about ten hours over the last few days, and I just can't get enough. Shame the weekend is over already. Anyway, what struck me at first was the atmosphere of the zone. A bleak, desolate, radioactive waste-land filled with all sorts of mysteries and horrors. From mutant bloodsuckers to rogue bandits, you'll find it in STALKER. It's nice to have an open-world setting, because you just want to explore every nook and cranny this game has to offer, see what you can scavange and what enemy might spring out at you. The life of a stalker is a cold and lonely one in a strange and terrible place. The gamplay is a welcome change from the norm, it's an RPG and an FPS at the same time. I really like the realistic shooting mechanics, adds to the harsh atmosphere. I haven't gotten very far into the game, but it's been a very enjoyable experience so far. Perhaps I'll blog again once I finish, give a final thought.
