Life goes on

I'd been pretty depressed since Jordan died, but Bryson called me last night at 10:30 to cheer me up. I don't know when his funeral is, but I think I would like to go. Everytime someone dies, I always think of this quote from Fried Green Tomatoes: "A heart can be broken, but it still keeps beating." Now when I think about Jordan, I smile. I really don't think there was anyone who disliked him at our school. I remember once in Art class he got called down to the office and we were all shocked. Apparently, he had gotten mixed up in some fight, but he was trying to pull the two boys off each other, not trying to swing some punches. I remember this once when we were telling stories in Art class and he told this one about how he and his dad and his brother got chased by buffalos. It was one of the best stories I'd ever heard. Jordan had a ton of brothers and sisters, but the only ones I can remember their names are Danielle, Katie, and Zac. Zac is in the military and Jordan talked about him non stop. They were pretty close. The only other kid to die in our grade was Alex Dimick. She was this cute little girl, and the only reason I can say that now is because she died the summer before 3rd grade. Apparently, she had developed a brain tumor and she never got well again. I didn't know her very well, and only talked to her once. I still remember it like it was yesterday. We were in 1st grade, and we were all lined up for PE class, and she was standing next to me. I asked her what her name was, and she said "Alex" but I thought she said "Alice". So I called her Alice for like the next 10 minutes before she caught on and corrected me. :P But she told me it was OK to call her Alice if I wanted to. Other than that, I don't remember much about her. After Alex died, the school came up with this award called "The Shining Star Award". Every year it was given out to a kid who faced hardships with a positive additute. Britta, a girl from our class, won it the first year it was given out, and then Jordan won it our 6th grade year, since Zac was in Iraq.
