Hi Bungie,
I want to start this off by saying I love you guys. I loved Halo and I really like Destiny and look forward to seeing what you guys do over the years. That said, I would be lying if I were to say this game is always fun because it isn't. Especially the end game. It is a boring gear grind that sucks so much life out of the game that running weekly strikes or any strikes has become no fun. However, I don't feel that all is lost and that with a few changes the game could be a real treat to lower and end game play. My friends and I sat down and came up with a few suggestions based on our various experiences in other games. We talked about what made the system work and why it was fun in that game and how it could be fun here. It wasn't easy to agree but we came up with a list of the most important.
Ships - First suggestion was easy for my friends and I to agree on. Do something with our ships. Even if it's a small minigame like Star Fox or the Gummi Ship missions in Kingdom Hearts. They could be something in-between loading or just some side missions.
Universal Ranks - Next suggestion is Universal Ranks. It is tedious to raise the ranks of each of the many different organizations in Destiny and it is more than a little annoying that all that work is for only one character. Oddly, Glimmer is Universal and is all but useless. It wouldn't hurt much to allow all the characters on my account to share the same Crucible or Vanguard Rank.
Crafting - This was a lot more difficult to decide and agree on but we agreed that a crafting system is the way to go. It would eliminate or at least alleviate some of the frustration with the loot system if people could craft weapons and armor. Legendary and Exotics are frustratingly rare. What is enraging is that when you get one it could be for another class. Many times has that caused a rage quit. A craft system gives those who are willing to put the time in, another way to obtain them. It gives players a very real goal no matter how much material it takes which is better than the random chance of everything from Ascendant Material to Strange Coins. It may seem ridiculous but Guild Wars 2 does this and it works for them. It can also give players a reason to use Glimmer. With a crafting system in place, Players can be polled on how fun a Strike or Raid is in a more honest way as the frustrating pressure of the Gear Hunt isn't looming over the run. It takes away the feeling, "I have to run this to get better gear" and replaces it with "I want to run this because I get better drops or it's fun
Trading - This is a must and none of us can understand why this isn't in the game. At the very least It should be able to trade with friends.
Change the Crucible - We all agreed that it isn't fun in the Crucible. We were split on why but one thing we all agreed on is that everyone should get something for doing it. Currently there is no incentive to win because even if you are the top player you may get nothing. I like the Guild Wars system of PvP. Everyone gets something for playing but the winners get more. Top players get a bonus.
All in all, the endgame is what needs the most work. The problem is the endgame feels tedious like work and that is no fun. We say a lot " we have to run this or that" instead of "we want to run this or that". It may seem minor but having to do something is tedious when the options are all no fun especially when they don't exactly ensure a return for your effort.
Thank you for Bungie. Thank you for Destiny, for Halo and for all the time, care and patience you give your community. I hope these suggestions help and in turn we will be patient and wait for you to improve Destiny.
