I don't want to call this solution lazy because its not but it is convoluted for no reason. They should really have this app on the Switch too. I don't think its a bad idea to have a chat app on the phone for games. Its a good idea if I'm mobile. But if I'm at home, the phone seems silly. Nintendo has some great ideas, but they always pair those ideas with some really confusing decisions.
It's never been a problem with the formulaic gameplay for me. The problem has been the formulaic theme and story. There were two major reasons I liked Majora's Mask. No Ganon and a darker more mature theme. I really think the Zelda series should move into the Teen realm instead of E for Everyone.
How about lowering the cost of games. This could increase revenue as it would increase interest from consumers. Just a thought. It's not rocket science, it's Business 101.
Overall I agree with this entire article. However I think that part of the reason that male Shepard's homosexuality isn't as well received by gamers has a lot to do with the poor way all the romances are written. Like the romances in Mass Effect 2, the romances in Mass Effect 3 felt forced. Its an irrelevant tradition there for the consistency. Its treated as if, with out this scene, the game wouldn't be a Mass Effect. This is contrary to the first game where you felt like you were building a relationship with your crew and romance.
