Hey all,
"Hope you are having some good time off or will be soon. Below is the press release for tomorrow's DLC. As mentioned before the DLC will come out on Xbox marketplace on Tuesday and on Playstation store next week (along with next week's regularly scheduled DLC) due to Sony's offices being closed this week for the holidays. Rock Band Replacement guitar and guitar compatiblity patch
by Darkfire6247 on Comments
So today I finally got my replacement guitar from EA after requesting for an RMA on Nov. 21st. I could live with the delay, as the drums are consuming my time well as I wait (damn they are fun). Also I will be getting a free game from EA because of my delay troubles :D.
Anyways onto the guitar. It is definantly a little different.
1. The fret buttons are way more clacky sounding. These frets are loud. This makes the fact that, compared to a GH guitar controller, making the silent strum bar on the Strat completely pointless. My only disappointment with the new guitar
2. The strum bar (which was the problem with my launch guitar) is actually a little improved. It seems that the strum bar has a little more resistance to it. All in all it feels less breakable.
3. The Rock Band guitar dongle is different also. The first one I had used a sticker to label it as a Rock Band dongle. This the writing is also part of the plastic. Not too important, just wanted to let you know.
My new guitar works like a charm, and I don't have any problems.

Now about PS3 guitar compatibility. Harmonix announced in their Rock Band community forums this following post.
"Hey everybody,
Good news, see below (this patch should be available quite soon, maybe even up now as of this posting)-
Available today is a routine update for the PLAYSTATION 3 version of Rock Band that addresses a number of items related to guitar controller compatibility. Should Rock Band owners choose to obtain the update, they will need broadband internet access connected to their PLAYSTATION 3. The update will be downloaded once the game is started.
Enjoy,
Sean"

This is good news as it seems we can finally use GH guitars on the game. I haven't heard of the patch being released yet, but this is confirmation that it is coming. PS3 owners of rock band can now finally create and enjoy a quartet band.

I Love, loved, and still loving the orange box. Portal 100%!
by Darkfire6247 on Comments
Well yesterday, being saturday, i really took some time playing the orange box. I finished half-life 2 episode two on wednesday first.
Then i set my eyes on portal. WOW do i love that game. Its just so fun to get my brain working like that. I've been waiting for a game that was really different. The challenge is just what i needed. To top it all off...its hilarious! I don't think i've ever laughed out loud (lol'd :P) that much in a game.
I played Portal quite a bit this week...and finished it 100% yesterday. YES 100%...all of those achievements. I played it a lot, yes, and got really good at the game. I beat all the advanced maps, and all of the map chamber challenges for gold. Even the least steps and least time ones...least portal ones were way easy...er, except for a couple. If you get stuck on trying to get gold...just think outside the [orange] box.
I know some of you right now would not believe me :D ...so i took screenshots.

Just a few upgrades...and other news
by Darkfire6247 on Comments
So a couple weeks ago i made some upgrades to my computer.
-I ordered a vantec tornado 92mm fan...just so see what its like first hand :P. Very loud...but im getting a controller soon to quiet it down. WOW does it push a lot of air
-New side panel for my thermaltake armor...the one with the 25cm fan. It cooled my system down a few degrees. i plan on making some leds for it...since there are already holes for them.
-another icage with 120mm fan. I wanted to cool my case down even more. My cpu is now 24 degrees C at idle. :D
-I thought i might try some readyboost. So i ordered the 4gb Corsair Flash Voyager GT. That thing is fast. Good thing i got it as u read the other news below.
Now for the more important stuff.
-I got the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatality Champion sound card. It has the I/O panel so i can use optical output. Sounds great. Alchemy was a @%$ to get to work...lemme know if u have problems...i can help. WORST OF ALL a $50MIR came out this week....UGH!
-There was a reason for getting such an expensive sound card. I also got myself the Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers! and WOW i love these. They sound amazing!..very loud! Also I love the control panel.
Thats it for upgrades...but i got more news...good and bad.
First with the good. I overclocked my cpu and gpu a bit more just to break 11,000 on 3DMark06. And Hurray! I did it. I managed to get 11,110 with my cpu at 3204mhz and my gfx card at 648/1512/2016.:D With Rivatuner 2.05 i was finally able to overclock again.
Now the bad. I had a long bout with BSOD's. It took a couple days before i narrowed it down to one of my RAM modules. Im in the process of RMAing them. :? My new 4gig flash voyager gt is keeping my performance up to par a bit...as i am only running 1 gig or Ram right now. Thank God i order that puppy.
Also moved my computer setup to the office in our house...it was in our recreational building before. With this new location and upgrades i'll definantly post some pics in the next couple weeks.
It's My Birthday Today!

My Custom Rig
by Darkfire6247 on Comments
A few months ago I built a new rig. It performs really well.
System Specs: Thermaltake Armor Case, Asus P5B-Deluxe mobo, 2gb Corsair xms2 ram, Intel e6600@ 3ghz, Tuniq Tower 120, eVGA 320mb 8800 gts@ 621/1998, Enermax Liberty 620wt psu, Seagate 500gb and 320gb hdd's, Razer Tarantula and Copperhead, Dell 2407wfp-HC monitor
I overclocked both my cpu and video card to the settings above. As a result my 3DMark06 Score went from 8262 to 10225.
