Top 10 Albums of 2008: #5

Well this blog is coming a little late rather than what was normally seen with my past blogs, but I haven't been able to access my computer as often lately. But now that I'm back on, I have the opportune moment to add the next addition to my countdown. In terms of real life, things have been going well. :) Today, I received my copy of Sonic and the Secret Rings that I purchased on Amazon after two weeks of waiting. It's nearly midnight and I received it this afternoon and haven' t played it yet, but I will when I have more time to dedicate toward a long run with it. I'm happy for receiving my copy, though in complete honesty, my excitement toward the game has dwindled a bit since the reception that has been received for Sonic and the Black Knight. I was anticipating the game highly, and just hearing how it is such a lazy and simply work of development, it kind of has made me a little less excited to play Sonic lately. Regardless of that, I'll still have a good time with his first (and hopefully not last) Wii adventure. And I must say, it's enjoyable knowing that about one year ago, I purchased Super Smash Bros. Brawl. :) It was an exciting night at midnight and my gameplay and love for the game is as strong as it ever was. Well, onto the countdown:

#5. Season Of Poison -- Shiny Toy Guns

GT

The sophomore album released by the band Shiny Toy Guns is one that took me by surprised. I was informed that one of the main vocalists of the band was replaced; that came as a bit of a disappointment for me, but because I enjoyed their debut album so much, I decided to pick up their next album and give it a spin. I came away with higher reactions than I expected and was pleased to not put away my faith in the band due to a member replacement. Despite that, the album still possesses many hints that connect it with its predecessor, as well as a number of changes that initiate the band going into a more hardcore direction. This album, like the previous album, has a wide array of electronic instrumentals, although the album has tracks that are supported more frequently by real life instrumentation. The male vocalist remains the same delivering the same mesmerizing vocals that many have come to enjoy, and the female vocal replacement does a fair job at delivering for fans of the band. The more hardcore approach toward the album is not one that is out of place, though of course, it comes along with a series of darker lyrics and tracks on the album. Despite that, the tracks on the album all deliver well and provide the same quality of music that individuals have come to be accustomed with with this band. Alternative rock and electronica fans should definitely take note of this album and if not, at least the band which isn't the most known band amongst the music industry. With more quality albums like their debut album as well as Season of Poison, Shiny Toy Guns will continue to make a positive impact on the music industry by providing great and memorable tracks that listeners will grow to love.
