My little nephew loves videogames but he loves playing the GTA series for the free-roaming aspect of them. He loves driving ambulances; cop vehicles and helicopters the most.

However; I have a problem with this since he's only 9 and I've caught him shooting people and even going into the strip club. He doesn't bother with the missions but the problem comes when the cops come after him and a shootout ensures or he see's the little lips icon on the map and he goes to it and wants to explore. I know it's wrong of me to let him play it but if I don't he starts crying so I let him play it as long as he doens't end up doing all the violent stuff, but he always ends up doing all the violent stuff so I put away all my M rated games because I don't want him playing them anymore.

So I'm wondering if there is a game out there that is like GTA but without all the guns, prostitutes, blood and violence?

If not then why hasn't anyone come up with this? Just a simple city with cars, cops, ambulances, helicopters, airplanes and stuff but without all the M rated stuff.

I use a 37" Samsung for PC gaming but it gives me all kinds of crap like not being able to support 1280x720 resolution even though it does it fine when I set up my XBOX to 720. Also I have to hook up the HDMI cable to the DVI/HDMI input, if i plug it in into the other HDMI inputs everything looks washed out and the font gets this glowing effect that hurts my eyes.It was really weird and I couldn't figure it out for the longest as to why the HDMI looked like crap and VGA looked fine.

Also I cannot turn on the computer before turning on the TV, otherwise I will get a "No signal" I guess it has something to do with the dang HDCP protection crap. ANd before you ask, no my TV won't go into standy mode if I put the computer on stand by, I have to manually turn it off every time.

Well that's just my two cents, if I were you I'd make absolutely sure that the TV you want is good for PC gaming, because even though mine cost $900 I guess it just wasn't made for PC usage.

DOes anyone know anything about this TV? I saw it on Amazon for $655 and I think that's a steal. Granted it's not an LCD or 1080p, but my 37" 1080p Sammy costed me $900 and honestly I just want it because of the size.

Now my concern is that it's a plasma and I've heard people say that technology has gotten better so there is no burn in, but if any of you guys have input regarding this I'd like to hear it. While I don't plan on gaming much on it, I'd be mad if 2 years from know I see a prominent "NETFLIX" logo every time I look at it.

My 37" Samsung (which I sit 2 ft away from) will still be my primary gaming/viewing device and I dont' plan on using the 50" that much, except with my blu ray player and like I said: I really don't care for 1080p, my cousin has a 50 inch as well and it's only 720p and while 1080p IS better, I can hardly notice the difference and I honestly don't think it's worth paying 200-300 bucks more on the same model just to get 1080p.

So what ya'll think?

All comments are appreciated, thanks :D

EDIT: Oh and plus 99.99% of all games are 720p natively, some like CoDMW and Halo 3 aren't even 720p

Hello peeps. I just bought this card since it's cheap (37 bucks after mail in rebates). I'd like you guys to recommend a decent PSU (preferably under $50) that will keep up with my card.

Right now I have a Gateway GT5670 (crappy,I know) with 2 hard drives connected to it (Master: 350GB and Slave:1.5TB) 4 GB Ram, and the rest came with the computer.

Yes I know my PC is not the best, nor is the card I just purchased, nor will it keep up with the latest games, but in all honesty I don't plan on playing too much on my computer. If I can play Oblivion at high settings then I'm a happy camper.

Thanks in advance.

System SpecsBudget:$10-$70

Card:MSI N9400GT

Monitor:Samsung 37" HDTV (LOL)

MB:Not sure. THe one that came with the 5670

OS:Vista 32

Browser:Chrome

CPU:AMD Phenom 8400

Memory:4GB

PSU:300W (looking for a better PSU)

HD:350GB (Master) + 1.5TB (Slave)

Quick format does not work at all unless I do only 1TB or less instead of the full 1.4TB. I can format the disc so as long as it's not over 1TB. I cannot format the whole drive. And I again it got stuck at 73%, this is definitely not a coincidence then, it's got to be the disc.

How are you trying to format it? Through Disk management? If not try it there, right click my computer, then manage, then disk management.opamando

I tried doing it under the 'Computer Management' and then I tried under my computer by right clicking the drive and formatting there.

Could also try another cable, doubtful, but possible.opamando

I actually switched the cables from the Master drive to this one and the master drive is not having any issues so I doubt it's the cable

The temperature should not have caused an issue, unless you put it in the PC while still cold and stated it, it could have formed some condensation, but still unlikely.opamando

Yeah I let it sit for a while, it was still a bit cold when put it in.

Very possible it just got damaged in transit, really amazing it does not happen more often. If you can't get it working just RMA it and get a replacement.opamando

It could have been. It's a 'bare drive' meaning it just comes in a little plastic case and they throw it into the box with a bunch of cushioning, but the drive was at the bottom of the box so it could've got damaged. It just seems like it's not a coincidence that it keeps getting stuck at almost the same place (80%). I deleted the drives, blah blah, I'm going to try again. See if it doesn't get stuck at 80%. I'll report in later.

Thanks for your help opamando. If I can't get this to work I'll just return it tomorrow.

THe drive I'm talking about is this one :

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB

I just got this drive on Friday (it was suppose to come on Thursday but UPS delayed the delivery date for some reason). Now the problem is that I cannot format the drive. Every time I use the windows New Simple Volume Wizard and try to format it, the drive usually get's stuck. Yesterday it got stuck at 73% and today it got stuck at 80% and it's been there for hours now and I can't hit the "Cancel Format" because it won't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or is the drive damaged?

Yesterday I restarted my computer and the drive showed up under "My Computer" but it gave me a message saying that the drive needed to be formatted before using it, then I would try formatting it from there but it would give me an error saying "The Parameter is incorrect" . Right now it the drive showed up again under "My Computer" but this time it gave me a message saying something like "The device could not be accessed because of an I/O error."

I'm starting to think the drive got damaged as Friday was really cold here in Colorado, it was maybe no hotter than 30 degrees (with an average of 19 degrees throughout the day) and I didn't receive my drive until about 5pm so you can imagine the drive being in the truck all day in that weather. As a matter of fact when I took it out of the box it was freezing cold, almost to the point where youcouldn'thandle it with your hands. Maybe the weather damaged it, I don't know.

I tried to format it again this time only 100MB and it did it just fine. So I tried to format the whole drive again and same problem, it got stuck at 80%. Again I tried to format it but this time only 1TB and it did it just fine. I'm starting to think the actual disc is scratched at a certain point therefore getting stuck at around 80% all the time.

What do you peeps think? Am I doing something wrong? Should I just return this garbage?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :D

My Specs

  • Gateway GT5670
  • 4GB RAM
  • AMD Phenom 8400
  • 300GB Hard Drive
  • Windows Vista 32
  • I dunno what the PSU is but i think it's 300W or 350W
