Is anyone else very disappointed with this launch lineup? It's a lot of slightly improved last gen games.
I hear you. It's imortant to note that these machines are upper mid tier PC's by "last gen's" standards (cpu and gpu wise). Which is a pretty good deal considering you can get them for just 500 each.
You will regularly see them punch above their weight since optimisation for a fixed platform goes a very long way.
That said, there is no magic going on here. The laws of physics still apply. The power required to run contemporary AAA games at 4K/60 leaves little to no headroom for additional bells and whistles.
It's why Ubisoft had to resort to 30fps for watch dogs legion because they absolutely HAD to have Ray Tracing in there.
tl;dr version: PS5 and Series X can run last gen games at 4K/60 but that's it. If you want more graphical bells and whistles it's back to dynamic res and 30 fps.
On a side note I’ve been gaming since the late “80s and everything about this next gen feels like Sony is losing this one. PS4 was a landslide victory for Sony but PS5 feels different...something’s off
Outside of the free to play multiplayer crap that’s littering digital stores, there’s an alarming lack of quality fps games coming out these days, let alone singleplayer titles
Messiah getting cancelled rustled my jimmies. How I wish that show was around a few years ago before the “I’m offended” era started. Could have been something special.
