@AdaptorLive @AyatollaofRnR Games should not be reviewed by people with a chip on their shoulder and what is obviously a glaring need to belong.

It should be reviewed objectively, and without bias, whim, or personal sentiment.

It should be reviewed according to story and gameplay - the things gamers actually care about. We don't give two craps about some insecure reviewer trying to prove that she's a real woman by taking offense to what happens to fake women in a game.

DLC just isn't possible. That leaves two choices:

1) Release the expansion by itself.

2) Re-release the game in it's entirety with the expansion included.

Option 2 makes far more sense, and here's why:

In order for Enemy Within to work, you would have to have Enemy Unknown and enough HDD space to install. Not everyone would have Enemy Unknown, and the purchase of Enemy Within would be at the mercy of the first game's availability.

In addition, it would cause a problem for retailers, because the console crowd would sometimes purchase the game unaware that the first game was required; console gamers aren't as accustomed to expansions as the PC crowd.

Lastly, it would hamper sales, seeing as how many gamers wouldn't even bother once they knew they would have to buy two games.

The only real option in this case is to re-release the game in it's entirety. If Firaxis is forced to ship physical copies of a game, they might as well make the most of it. To do it differently is less than practical.

Firaxis is doing this correctly.
