For me its PVP MMOs with factions having two (or three) sides where one is definitely the good guys, and the other evil (and somethings a third that is neutral). This just screws up the population. For one thing the good side will always have a population because (1) kids and casuals will want to be 'heroes' so they will obviously want to join the 'good' team because that is usually all the shows/movies they watch are about. Another reason since they are the 'heroes' they usually mean their races and settings will ave a clean, shinny, overall much more appealing look and many people pick a race/class because of their looks. (an exception to this is Warhammer online, but that's because everyone was ugly and the evil side were just super cool looking. Everyone who knew the setting would also know the good guys are also bad anyway and there aren't really 'good' guys in Warhammer.) On the other hand, talking about the people who will choose the 'good' side just because they want to be 'good', think about the people who will choose to be 'evil' for the same reason. A few will choose to be evil maybe for 'something different', but usually it will be because these people consider themselves to be ****s in real life (and like it) and want to do the in an online game. Most of the other groups of people who will choose the evil side is because they know the casuals, the kids, and the noobs (mainly the noobs who are more concern with how cool their character looks rather than how affective they are) will mainly be on the good side so they will chose evil just to avoid them. It is most more interesting to have two (or three) sides that are both good and evil in their own ways. I think the closest we ever had to a true good vs evil war IRL was WWII (correct me if I'm wrong). However one side can not be most cooler looking to the other. When WoW first started neither side was really good or evil but just because one side (Alliance) just looked much prettier than the other side (Horde) people assumed it must had been a good vs evil game. It is now well known this is not the case but much more people still play Alliance because they just look better, when most people play Horde they play Blood Elves because they are the only race on the Horde most people will find attractive. The best way to avoid this is to make all races able to be in either faction, but if you MUST have exclusive races for story/cool reasons make the most attractive and reliable races (which will mainly be Humans, Elves and Dwarves) neutral at least or have a faction based version of them that are equal in pretty/coolness. Depending on how the PVP is one side is likely to dominate. If the PVP is fully open and unregulated the 'good' side will dominate because of their sheer numbers. If the PVP is controlled in instances like the Arenas and Battlegrounds in WoW the 'evil' side will dominate because that's will most of the players practically will end up after they get frustrated with the 'good guy' players acting like idiots and not doing the objectives because they just want to live out the scenes of LotR where a few good fighters take on armies by themselves. There was one MMO that did this very well. Both sides were fighting each other over political reasons rather because they were good/evil and both sides had different races that were essentially the same the same races IE one side had humans and wolf people, the other side had elves and tiger people. And to top it all off they gave gameplay reasons to play the different side, the classes functioned same but they had different gameplay (one side's defensive warrior also had the ability to heal and revive while the other did not). However it had one of the worst faction imbalances in an MMO because of one very, very huge mistake; It got its hype for being a Steampunk setting, it was advertise mainly by the steampunk setting, the most dominate reason by a long shot people were interested in the game was because of the Steampunk setting, and then only one of the factions were truly steampunk! The other faction was a half steampunk/half generic magical kingdom. To no ones surprise the true steampunk setting dominated. The population balance was so bad the game was almsot unplayable, the steampunk faction always had super crowed areas and not every even got a chance to even fight people from the other faction because a dozen of other players got there first. __________________________________________________ TL;DR Having factions be 'good' or 'evil or having one faction look much cooler than the other because this causes population imbalances which are very bad for PVP MMOs!

Yeah, I'm gonna drag my PC into my living room and play from my couch. You must not have a woman living in the house. Either that or just out of touch with reality.

I've notice that most PC gamers on this forum are Europeans. Most of their countries have much smaller houses and apartments than we do. It is probably very easy for them to do this.

Where did you come up with this information from? I live right in the USA and again, very easy for me to have my home setup with a computer and tv hooked up, sit on my couch and game or play off my monitor. .....

I didn't mean to imply it would be hard for us, just easier for them. Sorry for the confusion.

Just look at Steam hardware survey.lowe0
I think he wants information from non PC gamers as well. This thread will be good because hermits always post budget PC rigs and say "Just keep your case, keyboard, etc." and I think they greatly underestimate how outdated some of our PCs are. My old PC didn't even have a PCI-E slot.

Well for those 21 PC games you could could just as many, if not more, console games you'll never play on PC (alteast not legaly).

But I generally do agree that PC is superior for strategy and simulation games.

nameless12345
PC is superior by nature. I just wish it had more games I wanted. When PC gamers think of hack and slash games they think of the wannabe action games like Diablo rather than the true hack and slashers such as Ninja Gaiden and God of War. Its kinda depressing how hard they are trying to concert us but they are so out of touch with what we like....
j/k :P
The list of great games on Consoles that you will never play on a PC would be twice as large.

Puckhog04

this is a lie. pc has an insane amount of more aaa/aa exclusives every gen.

But console games that can't be played on a PC? Far more than vice versa. If we're including everything of course. Then again, not 100% fair either seeing as there are 3 Consoles and the PC is 1 platform. But it is what it is.

I think you're underestimating the amount of new games we never even hear about that get release all the time. If GameSpot had the manpower to review each and every PC game the PC platform due to its sheer amount of games would have more AAEs (or even AAAes) than what games on consoles period.

Illegally, with emulators, which we aren't even suppose to talk about... :|

isn't it legal for snes games if i own them?

Yes, actually. Nintendo made an official statement about this but I'm too lazy to look it up.
