My take on it? This brings to light that the tenuous balance game review sites have is getting worse. Speech should not be moderated.
Greg Kasavin, my former favorite GameSpot reviewer, wrote:

As for the managers and editors of LameSpot ... man. You really should have thought this through. Study anthropology and trust.
As for Eidos and claiming they're shocked they are getting blamed ... what did they THINK would happen when they played strong arm with their advertising budget and dangled that over GameSpot's head?
