Bought a New Xbox, do NOT buy the LG TV Upgrader

Hey everyone! How's it hangin'? ;)

So today I bought a new Xbox for my mom as her birthday gift! She can now watch Netflix, Hulu Plus, and all the movies from our network in the living room! She loves it! It's funny how fascinated she is by technology...

However, things did not go smoothly before the purchase of my Xbox.

Before the 360, I bought an LG TV Upgrader from Best Buy. MISTAKE.

The little crappy box SUCKED. It didn't even have Hulu on it! And it costed me $140 (with tax)! The interface was slow, and it was buggy as hell. It would randomly turn off. AND it didn't even come with its own HDMI cable. I had to buy it seperately! Thankfully Sears was having a sale on them. So off to Best Buy again to return it for an Xbox. The console works much better, and has replaced DirecTV and our old DVD player. So for $50 more it was a huge upgrade. I had a lot of hope for the little box though. (I mean, it did cost me $140.) I was thinking about buying the Roku instead, but I figured I'd just end the suffering and get an Xbox.

I've got a qualm of the day:

DOES NOBODY KNOW HOW TO **** DRIVE ANYMORE!?

I went to a mall way downtown, and I was cut off like three times! Geez people...

Well, I have a 4 day little vacation from work, so Oblivion and Eternal Sonata are going to be played. :D Well, after I spend time with my lady friend. :)

Bought Some New Games!

Hey everyone!

So I recently bought some new games. Well, 2 games I had never played before, and 1 game I kept losing! ESIV: Oblivion, Eternal Sonata, and Far Cry 2. The first game I played was Oblivion. Wow, was I blown away! It's such a great game, filled with so much content! I'm 10 hours into the game, and I've only completed about 2 main storyline quests. I don't know why I didn't get this game earlier... I got it because Skyrim seemed really awesome and I wanted a little taste of what the Elder Scrolls series was about. Now this makes me want Skyrim even more.

Eternal Sonata was the second game I tried out. The battle system is a blast, and it has a sort of... charm to it. And the world is musical, vivid, and dreamy. I've only played it for about an hour, but it already has me wanting to find out just what the hell is going on. :P

(Far Cry 2 was the game I kept losing!)

I've also been working on some more songs, and the rough drafts are coming out great. I just need to do a little more touching up here and there. Hehe, I know it may be a stretch but I would really appreciate if anyone would like to here some songs. :D

Well, keep it real guys! Cause we all know how wrong it can go if you don't keep it real.

Skyrim, Battlefield 3, My girlfriend having to feed me.

Hey guys, how's it hangin'? ;)

Well, I've had an interesting morning today. I watched some Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim gameplay and... I almost cried. It was pure RPG perfection. Never have 14 minutes gone by so fast in my life. The graphics, the gameplay, the sheer amount of detail put into that game made me 100% sure I'd buy the game right when it comes out. Hopefully I don't have work 11.11.11 so I can just play my little heart out.

But on top of that, Battlefield 3 is also coming out in November. And I'm going to have to buy that game too. My wallet is already so sad that it's going to drop a minimum of $130. But it's going to have to do it if it wants me to be happy. Not only will I be a game playing vegetable, but I don't think I'll be able to feed myself. I asked Sara if she would feed me for a week or so, because I won't want to get up... Well of course she said yes!

I don't know if anyone remembers but my band broke up months ago. The drummer is moving, (and is no longer my friend), and the second guitarists mom thought that we were doing drugs together! >:(

DRUGS ARE FOR CHUMPS!

But last Saturday, me and the second guitarist, Fig, got together and jammed out. It was really Psychedelic sounding, and very raw. We loved it. But there's just one thing bothering me: We can't think of a new name! He said he wants to name it "Run Rabbit Run" but there are so many instances where bands have used those three words to name an album, or a song. I have a solo project called "Flenderson". I named it after The Office HR rep, Toby Flenderson. Hehe yeah pretty nerdy huh? But I would like to call all my Gamespot friends to help us think of a name!

Also, which games are you guys looking forward to buying this year?

It's Alright

I took the time to listen to the sea

With my imagination

It's harder than you think

It's harder than you know

I took the time

To let you think about what you've done

But you laughed and said

There was nothing to learn but death

You think I'd trust that?

You think I'd Trust that?

I see the belief, that's fine

I took the time to listen to the sea

With my imagination

I thought you'd died in the fire

But it seems you came out alright

There's a little too much blood now

Come back when they've cleaned up

You see the fishbones scattered across the sea

How many days ago did you find her?

How many times did you fall trying to climb it?

I guess...

I took the time

To learn your language

But I guess you fell onto your side

It's time to run and hide

It's alright...

(If anybody would like the song just comment down here! It's okay if nobody does though... A lot of people find acoustic boring. :P )

What's With All The Hate Towards Dragon Age 2?

So I recently rented Dragon Age 2 and all I have are good things to say about it. Why is everyone so disappointed? I can say that I haven't played Dragon Age: Origins, but doesn't that give me some reasoning? All the negativity I've heard about DA2 is that it doesn't live up to DAO. Why are we comparing two different games? DA2 is more action oriented, but that doesn't make it a bad thing. (I have played DA Origins, but not enough to say I've PLAYED it, you know what I mean?)

I think this is like comparing two brothers. You can't say, as the mother, you love one more than the other. If you really loved Dragon Age, you would be happy that Bioware decided to continue the story. You can't expect there to not be any changes. Games change, and of course everyone has their own opinion. But you can't knock down a game that is a good game, but doesn't have the same mechanics or story as the first game. That's just not fair.

Everyone complained about GTAIV because Rockstar decided to take a serious, mature approach to their series. But Grand Theft Auto IV wasn't a bad game at all. It was just different. I just don't see the purpose in one hating on a game that decided to be different. I personally am really digging Dragon Age 2. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Peace!

Summer of Change, Love, Music, and Video Games

Hey everybody! Long time no blog, eh? Well, Summer is approaching quick, which means so is my graduation from high school. I graduate on Wednesday, May 25th. I'm so excited to be out of there and into college. I'm still not sure where I'm going, but it's between Pima Community College and University of Arizona. I have a 2 year full tuition paid scholarship to Pima, but about $9,000 in grants for the UofA. It's going to be a tough decision, but I might do a joint enrollment. Eh, too lazy to go into what that means. :P

I finally got a job about a month ago, and I got emotional on my first paycheck. It felt so good to feed my family with the hard work I put in. Hehe I know it's very cheesy. My girlfriend was able to celebrate the check with me and my mom. We had some chicken, and I bought vanilla ice cream and my mom made us all banana splits! They were amazingly delicious!

311 and the Arctic Monkeys are releasing new albums this summer! I know that Arctic Monkey's new album is called Suck it and See, and I sort of already listened to it. Bottom Line: EPIC. They just get better and better. I can't wait for 311's new album, but I have a feeling it will sound the same as Uplifter. I really hope they change it up. THey need to rap more! Grassroots was badass!!!

I have a question of the day for you guys. I'm getting paid on Friday, the 29th of May. I need to know if I should buy a game. L.A. Noire? I don't know, it doesn't seem to have much replay value. What about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow? Or maybe I'll just buy a Turtle Beach Headset. :O

Thanks for reading guys ;)

It's really been a long time...

Hey Gamespot! Wow, it's definitely been some time since I've written anything here... I have been busy being an editor at WiredController.com! It's an upcoming site, and we would really appreciate if you stopped by!

Hehe, another pretty big update on my life! I have a job now! I work at Ross! Yes, finally, after a year of searching I have gotten hired! The interview went great and they were really interested in me. I plan on saving up for a car first, then buying a new Xbox! Hehehe then save up for that Wii 2! :O And get Battlefield 3! So many things to buy! Oh and a plasma HDTV :P. I need me one of those!

Well, things didn't go so well with Hellstrom High. They found another more competent guitarist. Eh, I'm just gonna do my own solo thing. And besides, I'm way better at composing Indie Rock than Death Metal. And besides, I've been too busy writing to be in a band anyway...

I have discovered a lot of really good bands! Despised Icon, TV on the Radio, Impending Doom,Suffokate, etc.

Haha well this just seems like a really huge life update so I'll just end it at this! XD

See you all later, and I promise to be more active here!

Hellstrom High

Hey Gamespotters! I have some excting, (well, I believe it's exciting :P), news for you all!

Well, most of you know that I am part of an Indie/Alternative band called The Survey Crew. I've been playing with the same drummer for about 5 years, and we've had our good times and our bad. But, I don't feel it's right anymore. We don't really make music like we used to. I feel like the music we make is based on what the drummer's personal preference is. I love to make slow, heartfelt indie anthems, and he likes to make energetic music. I definitely don't have a problem with energy, but I don't like where the sound is headed. Also, with the addition of our gifted second guitarist, the sound is traveling in a direction I dislike. I'm not calling it quits, but I am slowly stepping away...

...to join a Death Metal band. Now, I know it's a big jump, but I love metal. TechMetal, DeathMetal, DeathCore, ChugChug... The Metal band I'm joining is my former bassists band, named Hellstrom High. They tried me out because they want to kick out one of their guitarists, (because he is a jerk). They all really like me and I'm basically in. They are already playing shows, and they are playing at the finals in the battle of the bands. I'm going to help them achieve this. April 30th. Yes, I will post some of our stuff, but it's not for everybody. Death metal is an extreme artform. Like piercings or tattoos, Death Metal is still considered taboo. But it IS music. A lot of people say that anybody could do it, but if you study and really appreciate music as I do, you'll notice that it takes a lot of technique. Change in tempo, speed picking, breakdowns with complicated strumming numbers, syncopation, blast beats... It takes skill. Vocals do as well. You can seriously damage your throat if you don't do it right. I'm also joining this band because they are a lot more serious than TSC. So, I will keep you guys posted.

In other news, I'm going to college in the Fall! WOOT! University of Arizona! I'm hoping to major in Web Development or Computer Engineering. I want to become a Webmaster and make a great salary for Sara and me. I need a freaking job though! I've applied to a lot of businesses and nobody has called me. My friend works at the local Target, and I'm hoping he can put in a good word for me. Oh well, only time can tell!

I have a solo project called Caustic Candles. It's my Indie/Acoustic thing. It's what I want my band to sound like, but they don't know how to enjoy music... They call it "slow". Meh. I'm working on some songs, but Hellstrom High is going to be on my list of activities now so I need to study more Metal.

Well thanks for reading guys! Oh, P.S. My birthday is on the 19th of February! I'm so excited! I'm going to be 18! 8)

Be safe guys!

GAMESPOT!! What's up? :P

So, I finished up Dead Space 2 last night. WOW. Read my review of it!

You're probably wondering where my blog title came from. Well, I recently discovered an 80's band called The Chills. I'm starting to get into their Dunedin sound It's very different. I also recently got into The Faceless. They are a great Death Metal band with Technical Metal tidbits thrown in.

Well, this is going to be a short short blog, simply becuase I have video games to play! To all of my USA friends, careful in this crazy weather! Here in Tucson, AZ we hit world record lows. Man was it freezing. Well, take care guys!

Dead Space 2 First Impressions

Hey guys! I decided to write a small update on how I am perceiving Dead Space 2 so far. Well, let me tell you, so far... So freaking good. I just love how Isaac finally comes out of his shell and earns the title of orotagonist of the DS series. His dementia, his speech, his actions... They are all so fluid and they fit him like a glove. He has so much to say in DS2, and his caracter flourishes into my heart as one of my favorite of all time. Isaac Clarke really makes this game what it is.

I've also seen that Dead Space 2 has a lot more action than the original DS. It's harder this time around, and has many more Necromorphs coming at you at once. I've already died countless times, just because the Necromorphs flood in and attack you all at once. But, this adds to the enhanced atmosphere. It's a lot crazier, bloodier, and mature.

I'm on the second disc, and the story has me in its grasp. I just think Dead Space 2 is what being a 3rd Person Shooter is all about. The environmental puzzles are simple, but are something you'd expect you'd have to do if you were in Issac Clarke's shoes. From the one match I played in multiplayer, (because my stupid NAT is moderate, and I was only able to connect to a match once), it feels pretty good. I had some fun! It's not revolutionary, but it isn't bad!

So far, Dead Space 2 is a Sci-Fi Epic. Just glorious in every way and legendary in its own right.
