...cradle broken glass, of what was everything" It is law by the code of Dee that you know this song.
I got my Radiohead tickets in the mail today. Apparently, when it said "the tickets will arive on August 25th", it meant, "the tickets will arrive by at least August 25th". I'm even more psyched than ever. So excited, I used the song "Lucky" by Radiohead for a presentation about...get ready for the topic of my project...lynching of African-Americans. We're preparing to read "To Kill a Mockingbird", so we split into groups and di projects about the civil rights movement and pre-mobement topics. I made an iMovie, complete with a brilliantly emotional song, and gruesome pictures, which I WILL NOT show. They could make you sick if you have a weak stomac. If you need an idea, there's a picture of a black man being burned, as you can see his ashes on his body.
I'm not sure how Radiohead tickets turned into something about a movie about lynching. On to a less disgusting topic. I'm restringing my guitar for the first time in a few months tomorrow. The main reason being that Sam Ash had a sale on Elixirs (my favorite string brand), where if I bought two acoustic string packs, I got an electric string pack free. I bought the pack, and then threw in one extra electric pack. Grabbed a few new picks (my picks seem to disappear a lot), and I was set. I took all the stirngs off today, but instead of restringing, just busted out my Strat and rocked it for the first time in a while. I got a great tone out of it, and did some pretty sick soloing, including a "Star Spangled Banner" rendition complete with tapping and wah-wah. I should play at the school at our next Flag Ceremony (we all do the "Pledge of Allegiance" and then talk about school events). I would beat the sh!t out of the (brass) band's version they did a few times back, which happens to be taught by my first guitar teacher, back when I was 9, until he got in a car accident.
Because I forgot a few names in the last friends list, here's the redone version.
15. Mother3GBA- Don't know the last time I talked to him was, but still very funny.
14. isud12- Blogs too rarely now, but always ppolite and writes good blogs.
13. hf- Haven't heard from him in a loooooooong time, but still a cool guy, and hp's best friend.
12. Hellmonkey- Fun to talk games with. I don't go to his blog a lot, but still fun to discuss Wii.
11. Sky- Writes thoughtful blogs, and hosts the prestigious Sky awards :P.
10. Al- Especially cool guy, fun to discuss just about anything with.
9. Dan- EXTAORDINARILY polite and calm, easy to have debates with.
8. Josh- The single nicestperson on the whole site. Would be higher, but hasn't been on for a while.
7. Indie- A better music critic than anybody workig for any company. I'll trust him with all that is music. Very nice and never rude.
6. Jacob-Probably the best new member on the site. Fun to talk about anything with, and he shares one of my idols (Billy Corgan).
5. hp- I love getting into fun arguments with this guy. Me poking fun at his obsession with Slash, poking back about my obsession with Pearl Jam, it's all fun.
4. Mark- Awesome SP fan (South Park and Smahing Pumpkins at the same time :P). Although I hat his idol, I try to avoid discussions, as Shadow also figured out :P.
3. Tweek- One of my first tv.com friends, fun to talk music with. Rarely blogs, but when he does, it keeps you entertained for a while.
2. Shadow- A constant friend, good debater. Reading his drunken/stoned ramblings are one of the best things oyu can do on this site :P.
1. Elmis- Once again: how can you not love a guy who writes "I need shoes to do this question.' on his math final? Also a great music critic. Shadow says he sometime epitomizes "an a$$hole fanboy," but also says, "but that's why I love him" (I think that's what he said), he couldn't be more spot on. Hilarious guy, great guitarist, intros me to a lot of music. Keep it up.
If you want to see my full comments on everybody, go to the last blog. I pretty much copied over Elmis' explanation, but everyone else's seemed shortened. Look at them.
Now, a new list.
THE 5 GREATEST GUITARISTS EVER (NO BIAS)
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Eric Clapton (God)
3. Jimmy Page
4. Eddie Van Halen
5. Slash (this is the only biased part)
No pictures today, sorry.
I love weekends, I get to waste my time on this site, rock out, play volleyball, play games, and go to sleep at 2:00 listening to music and wake up at 12:00 noon. How sweet is that? You know how sweet it is, everybody loves weekends.
That was off-topic. We now continue this extraordinarily long blog.
I'm gonna wrap it up with a music review.
"LOVELESS" by My Bloody Valentine
Genre: Shoegazing (a form of rock)
I remember long long ago, when I first talked to Indie on a "Your Favorite Band" forum. He mentioned My Bloody Valentine as one of his favorites. I said I didn't like them because they were bad heavy metal in my opinion and too emo. Little did I realize I was thinking of the crappy metal-emo band Bullet For My Valentine, who I've always despised. Don't ask me how I remember this. If Indie remembers this, I won't feel like i have such a freakish memory).
Now that I know who the band is, I can easily say that saying that MBV is one of your favorite bands is justified. Brilliant music.
As you may know, "Loveless" cost embarassing amounts of money and took forever to finish due to Kevin Shield's perfectionism, but it was worth every penny for production. The sound is picture-perfect, absolute perfection. Absolutely 0 wrong with it.
The songs themselves show eery beauty, similar to The Smashing Pumpkins, to whom this album was a huge influence. The spiraling sounds shoot through your ears and tap into a deep part of your brain, triggering that spot than only great music can. It's just absolute perfection. Nothing less. You can't describe it any other way.
Standours: "Loomer', "Sometimes", "Only Shallow"
Score: 10/10
I'll review more later. See ya!
EXTRA EDIT:
I recently started playing the masterpiece Legend of Zelda: The Phantom HOurglass again. It's just as good as the first time. It's easily the best handheld game of all time, no arguments. Between LOZ: PH and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I've got enough to keep me busy unitl I get Mario Kart Wii. It comes out tomorrow, but I don't have enough spare money. I'll just blow the money I have on some CDs, and get the game for my birthday.
Extra EXTRA Edit:
I should blog less, I always have too much to talk about.
I found an awesome guitar tone that I may permanently switch to. I found it using my strat. I switched the treble all the way on on the guitar's switch. I turned the tone knob to 12 o'clock on the Big Muff, and use the "Cherub Rock" pre-set tones, but switch it from Insane Green to Clean Green. I get a perfect Pumpkins, Soundgarden, old-school Chilis, and heavy Radiohead sound. I was wondering if my strat just had better tone than my SG all along, but I switched back to my SG, flipped the switch to treble, and it sounded even better. I'm using my strat right now though, cause I still haven't restrung the SG. I'll do that later tonight.
I reseumed learning"My Iron Lung" and finished. My solo is even better then the original. I promise you. I also found a "The Star Spangled Banner" tone. All the same settings I had, but turn on the tape echo, and switch on the wah-wah, keeping it on the toe for most of the time. I also found out that turning the sustain down a little, and turning the tone knob to 3 o'clock gives me a great Pearl Jam tone. Awesome day for rocking out!
