Today I picked up two new CDs from Borders. I was checking through the music (there's books, movies, music, etc.) section, when the album "Vitalogy" by Pearl Jam. I have "Vitalogy" already, and have for months now (I for some reason never listened to the whol thing, I will tonight or tomorrow), but I decided to flip through the Pearl Jam CDs. It went "Vitalogy", "Ten", "Ten", "Ten", "Ten", "ten, and "T-, wait a second, that's "Vs."!!! Having been told of it's huge power to kick bottom until your buttocks are sore, I picked it up. On the way out, the Foo Fighters section caught my eye, so I flipped trough those. There were only three, "Skin and Bones, "ESP&G", and the self-titled one! I got the self-titled, and bought both, and left to go listen to tehir awesomeness. "Vs." kicks extreme bottom to the seventh degree. It is so good, I have to question it's superiority to "Ten". I can't decide which is better. "Vs." sticks out because it sounds very raw, not overdone, not produced to the point where it doesn't sound like a band anymore, just right. The guitar on "Vs." is better as well, such as the amazing "Go". Their is also a good mix of style, from the hard rock 'n' roll grunge sound, to some softer songs. "Glorifed G" is also a very catchy, somewhat poppy song, that sounds a little like Hendrix's "Crosstown Traffic" during the chrous, when they sing in harmony. "Ten" has more catchy rythms, such as "Why Go", and "Alive", but "Vs." is quite possibly better. I'm leaning towards "Vs." right now, but I'm not done debating. No matter what, my tew favorite PJ songs are "Why Go" and "Go", funny huh?
The self-titled Foo's album is definitely the second best next to "The Volour and the Shape". It sounds like a Nirvana CD where Dave filled in for Kurt more than a Foo Fighters. Although it is a Dave Grohl album more than anything, it rocks. It starts out kind of poppy, but it works it's way into more heavy tunes. I'll review these two new albums in my giant blog. They both receive high ratings, in fact this is what the scores round to (but "Vs." is a perfect 10):
"Vs"- 10/10
"Foo Fighters"- 9/10
I like them both a lot
I'm preparing my slog as I call it, the most massive blog I've ever made. I'll have aboout fifteen topics, with short rants, jokes, and guess the lines as well. I'll even have a guest writer (possibly) and get a friend to rant about whatever's pissing them off terribly.
