I would suggest Elfen Lied and Ergo Proxy. Both are fairly short... (one or two seasons) but IMO pretty good. I have just started Ergo Proxy. Also I liked Rozen Maiden but you mentioned wanting less of a comedic feel right? That knocks out some decent ones for me. :P
Oh geeze I am the only one who may have some sort of sympathy. How would you like it if someone went out for dinner at a restaurant and you just asked them to get you a measly 5$ meal and they woulden't? Now imagine it's your mom. Yeah cheap I would say. I'm sorry but just because someone raised you from a baby doesn't mean they gave up much. You can be pretty cheap with your kids and nice on yourself. My parents were. Stop judging the dude. However this isen't exactly a fourm worthy post man. Next time...BLOG IT!
