along with everywhere else... let's not forget that europe was in the same religious predicament a few hundred years ago... it passed there and hopefully will pass in the middle east.
It really saddens me because I find the culture, architecture, history, and the way of life of the people of the middle east fascinating. To see some of the great mosques (ironically) and art alone would be one of my greatest wishes.
Being an American, I just wouldn't feel safe there. I unfortunately do not see that happening during my lifetime so I will need to make due with pictures on the internet. I could just imagine attending a bazaar, seeing the pyramids, or visiting the incredible buildings... alas probably only a travel dream to this white american....
One of my students is actually a native born Egyptian and we talk at great lengths about Egypt as he visits at least twice a year. I always tell him how much I envy that, and he assures me if would be perfectly safe for me, but I don't think I would feel safe at all though.
dude, its perfectly safe. i mean i really doubt that anyone would do you harm. however, i do understand your fear.
