The biggest issue with this new game is that it needs to do more than GTA IV. Out of all the GTA games IV bored me the most. GTA IV's writing was better and they did improve the shooting and the taxis were better, but in general it was a step down from San Andreas. There were less side missions to do and a lot less customization. The missions started to run together and just feel repetitive. I also missed being able to buy property.

""We want to make great games, even for the 43-year-old Facebook mother, because she deserves a great f***ing game too," If that's a comment to casual games then I think that sounds contradictorary considering a good deal of these casual games are not nearly as refined, in depth, or functional as the more core developed games. Overall the article was decent and like with any medium if there is lack of any kind of person it takes those people to do it, because the others won't because they don't personally relate to it and that's how it is. I had used to ask myself why there aren't that many main black or Hispanic characters and the answer to that is is that there aren't that many blacks or Hispanics in the game industry and even less that run these companies. I'm not even sure if there are any that run a major studio.

"We no longer find reason to debate the number of female artists, filmmakers," I don't think I've ever heard of a female director, writer or producer. When there's mention of a movie coming out and they talk about one of these people it's always a male. Also notice mostly male names in the opening credits too. "Ada Lovelace was a British mathematician and writer who, in 1842, helped inventor, philosopher, and mechanical engineer Charles Babbage design the concept for the first programmable computer. " Hold up the computer was invented in 1842? "it needs more diversity in general, catering to all play styles and more inclusive of ethnicity, class, and gender." I don't like this line. Makes me think developers are going to put these things in just because they feel they should.

Most definetly games are art. Some developers and companies may not always have art intended in the games, but that does not make them non-art. Prime examples of artistic games are Okami, Super Mario Galaxy and the Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy series. Not all games are made in intent to appeal to the masses either Nickfury101, just like with the games I mentioned, they don't appeal to all kinds of gamers. RPGs have knownly for a while now to appeal to nerds and geeks and sports games like Madden and stuff mostly does try to appeal to everyone, but they are probably mostly funded, by the jocks, thugs, and fathers. Games like Little Big Planet allow people to experience one another's artistic works and video games just like any other art medium has the power to change lives. I am a prime example. Final Fantasy IX changed my life. As a young child I was enthralled by the game's gameplay like anyone else, but it was the art aspects that touched me. The engaging story that told the cruelties of war, the question of existence, the importance and purpose of life, and of course love. This inspired me along with its astounding FMVs, and music to become a game designer and author, which I am heavily working on to this very day. So yes, video games are definetly art. P.S. I disagree with Blow that nobody wants to kill monsters as Kratos. You might not like the game, but I think a million others can say they do and it too is also art.
